I forgot to add my T was low and they were giving me injections for almost a year. nobody noticed my red blood cell count go thru the roof. I stopped the injections almost a year ago my red blood cell count was normal within 4 months.

they were giving me injections because I am weak, not for any sexual function. I don't know they have tested it recently but I HOPE they would let me know if it is a problem.

I'm using the topical Androgel because my T was pretty low, and I was losing muscle mass, not because of ED. It really helps in building muscle when weight lifting, which I do 4 times a week now. I don't need flomax as I manage to get thru the night even if I have a cup of Chamomile or senna tea before bed.

And I get the blood work done about 3 times a year... lipids, testosterone and PSAs among other things.

You know this sounds weird but if you went to a strip club together it might click something. I just remember a co worker of mine mentioning that and said they have some great times after words. Maybe bring in some toys that you can both play with. I suggest and one of my favs is some of the Je Joue line like the Mimi or Fifi water proof for hot tub also magnetic battery charger. Very strong vibration and quite. Sorry to here about the no interest thing.

Not sure who you are addressing there SRT8, but for the record, Aviator has plenty of interest and no disfunction whatsoever. I feel blessed.

And Fred, I'd still happily trade a good nights sleep for an all-nighter anytime.

No all-nighters for me, I don't know if I could even go twice at time anymore, haven't tried in a while. I always take care of a lady first because afterwards I want to go to bed(night) or take a nap(day)

it is still very enjoyable just not quite as good. and I do love not waking up to pee.

If I could figure out the answer to your problem I would be a billionaire!

IMO the guy that developed Viagra ought to be shot; an 80 year old guy doesn't need a boner. Make a pill that gives a 40-50 year old woman back her libido. That would be a useful breakthrough.

Think he was talking to me about my wife's lack of interest

Tadalafil or Cialis dosed at half strength. Check this out:

I have no personal experience with this, but if a woman is having trouble, I think it's worth a try.

I would like to buy barracuda and change it so a guy can look at a gun but if a woman tries to look at shoes or handbags it would pop up with "access blocked frivolous shopping not allowed....."

Yeah, we have that frickin' barracuda on my job, too. I hate that damn program. I loved it when Department of Homeland Security, FBI and Florida Department of Law Enforcement have all been blocked to name a few. The program is a joke.

It's basically a discussion:

Quote:

Anyone else give this to their wives/girlfriends/sex partners with positive results? What I have observed is that every physical aspect of female sexual function is enhanced by this drug, similar to men. In women this means improved blood flow in the genitals, abundant lubrication, increased swelling of areas that are supposed to swell, which ultimately enhances sensitivity and improves the experience for both partners. I've used doses of 6.66mg - 10mg (1/3 - 1/2 of a 20mg pill).

A couple of supporting studies:

Tadalafil reversal of sexual dysfunction caused by serotonin enhancing medications in women.

Ashton AK, Weinstein W.

Buffalo Medical Group, Williamsville, New York 14221-5795, USA. aashton@buffalomedicalgroup.com

Sexual dysfunction is a common side effect of many antidepressants, especially those that increase serotonin. Many strategies have been reported to assist patients in minimizing impairment, with variable degrees of success. One of the newer approaches is to augment with phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitors. Our report using the most recently released agent in this class, tadalafil is the first demonstrating potential benefit in women. We report here of three women who derived benefit from using 20 mg of tadalafil before anticipated sexual activity to reverse medication-induced sexual dysfunction. Tadalafil utility was maintained over time and was well tolerated.

Phosphodiesterase inhibitors in female sexual dysfunction.

Mayer M, Stief CG, Truss MC, Uckert S.

Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, University Hospital Grosshadern, Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Marchioninistr. 15, 81377, Munich, Germany. margit.mayer2@med.uni-muenchen.de

Based on the increasing knowledge on both the physiology of penile erection and the pathophysiology of erectile dysfunction, selective phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors have been successfully introduced in the oral treatment of male erectile dysfunction. Because of their central role in smooth muscle tone regulation, PDEs remain an attractive target for drug development in urology. Since the distribution and functional significance of PDE isoenzymes vary in different tissues, selective inhibitors of the isoenzymes have the potential to exert at least partially specific effects on the target tissue. Currently, PDE inhibitors are under investigation with potential uses in urinary stone disease, overactive bladder and the so-called benign prostatic syndrome. The convincing clinical data on the use of the orally active PDE5 inhibitors sildenafil (VIAGRA), vardenafil (LEVITRA) and tadalafil (CIALIS) in the treatment of erectile dysfunction are accompanied by boosting research activities on intracellular signal transduction and PDE characterisation in female genital tissues with the aid of immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry and molecular biology. The expression of various PDE isoforms in the human clitoris, vagina and labia minora was shown by means of immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR analyses and it was concluded from functional studies that an increase in cGMP or cAMP might be involved in the regulation of female genital blood flow and the control of genital non-vascular smooth muscle. As a consequence, the efficacy and safety of the PDE5 inhibitor sildenafil in the treatment of symptoms of female sexual dysfunction (FSD), including female sexual arousal disorders (FSAD), have been evaluated. Although the experiences from these early clinical studies have so far not been conclusive, they suggest that, after appropriate evaluation of patients, inhibition of PDE5 might be of benefit for selected individuals with FSAD. Such research efforts will possibly allow the identification of efficacious and diagnostic tools for erectile dysfunction and of even more selective drugs in its therapy.

I tried to read it and thought #%$? It's mostly beyond my engineering oriented cognitive function. I got Bones to translate that for me and basically it says there have been some studies on women, and it seems Cialis (Tadalifil) is effective and well tolerated by women in half strength (10mg) dosages.

Not FDA approved, but if your lady is having troubles with arousal and lubrication, letting her raid your medicine cabinet (in the interest of science, of course) carries little risk for her. She won't be growing a beard or a "pair" afterwards. Nothing will turn black and fall off. The effects can be amazing but are temporary.

This is not a problem my household needs to solve, so no personal experience with it.

Serotonin enhancing meds are anti-depressants.

So I should raid the medicine cabinet and steal my hubby's Viagra! LOL! :D He does have it because he has low T and BPH at the same time, so the Androgel was not an option for him.

Antidepressants that work on serotonin (SSRI's) are the worst. I switched off to a SNRI (works on norepinephrine instead of serotonin) and big difference.

Sorry guys, I had to jump into this thread...it piqued my curiosity and I couldn't resist commenting! :P

Not Viagra. But half a 20mg pill of Cialis might do something for you.

Maybe I should switch him off to Cialis then! Just kidding...I think we have the issues figured out and Viagra works just fine for the person it was intended for. ;)

Here's the thing. If your lady is at a point where she would rather watch tv than get in the hot tub with her hubby, there's only one explanation (barring that she's afraid you're a mass murderer or something): she's insecure about herself.

This could be a temporary thing. Like maybe she has an ingrown hair on her hoohah, or she's having lady troubles (please do not say "menopause" to me--the whole ordeal and hormone fluctuations can drag on for years...it took my mother a decade to get fully through menopause). So. maybe asking on another night might work.

It could be insecurity about herself too. I suspect you weren't nearly as froggy before now. That neglect tends to make a woman feel less than attractive. Years of that kind of neglect isn't going to turn around in some climatic six word speech "wanna get in the hot tub?"

Either way, you look at it, what turns women on is typically a lot different from what turns men on. We like to be talked to, cajoled, whispered to--put some elbow grease into it, buddy. You might've bought the cow, but many married men like to prepare their wives for sex by essentially saying "HEEEERE BESSIE!"

Treat her like you did while you were dating. Build her up to it. Give her compliments. Get her some flowers. You know...treat her like she's NOT a bought cow.

That's what does it for me. :)

Not trying to be dense here, but have you asked her how she feels about sex? About you? Have you told her how much you miss being close to her in that very special way? (Rhetorical questions here). Listening is an art.Try to detach your feelings and listen to her closely, without mentally jumping ahead to prepare an answer.

Try having the conversation in a neutral place, like maybe while you're out walking or sitting somewhere peaceful, and won't be disturbed or distracted. Does she have some insecurities about herself or is there something she would like you to do differently or change about yourself? She may have felt she lost her womanliness after that surgery years ago or there might have been pain. But that was a long time ago; things change and gynecology has made many things possible.

I can empathize with your keeping silent, but silence doesn't improve communication and it doesn't fix things. With silence, a couple just gets in the habit of shutting down emotions and putting up more walls between them. Best wishes---I hope you somehow stumble on a solution. Life is so much richer (and more fun!) with that intimate connection.

Dees, that is just not always true. Women who take anti-depressants may experience a lack of arousal and/or lubrication. It's female ED, and is completely independent of menopause. It's virtually the same phenomenon as a man who is taking a beta blocker (blood pressure med) and experiencing ED. It's a chemically induced side effect of some medications.

Just like a male with ED, the hormonal desire to have sex is there, but the proper blood flow to the genitals is inadequate for proper arousal. For men, it's means no-go, for women it means painful and unsatisfying sex.

That's what these study are about. The use of Tadalafil in half strength doses for women. It apparently works pretty well.

Again, no personal experience with this.

Well a little. When I weighed 310 lbs during pre-op, I had to take a beta blocker and while I did not have full-on ED, I did experience less.... umm... altitude, the moment I began taking them. One of my incentives to lose weight. And it worked.
