Crouton Replacement

Recommended Posts

What do you guys use to replace croutons in a Caesar Salad? I love then, and it's all legal...except the croutons? That extra crunch makes it for me, what do you suggest?

I like wasabi peas on my salad - or a sprinkling of toasted sliced almonds or roasted chickpeas.  Toasted pine nuts are pretty good and my DH likes crumbled crispy bacon on his salad.

@CherokeeGirl

Toasted pumpkin or squash seeds, pepitas ... spread them on a flat frying pan with no oil (they contain plenty) and even on a medium heat they quickly become toasty and crunchy!

I don't eat salad very often it feels me up, but when I do I eat the croutons. ( 2 or 3 )

I just use fewer croutons than normal, plus a little extra Parm cheese.  :D

The real problem with most Caesar salads is the dressing not the croutons.

I'd try those crispy cheese things - parmesan crisps (?). They taste awesome, they're basically pure protein, and they seem fancy :)
