Protein shake

Recommended Posts

When having a protein shake do you not drink water 30 minutes before and after? I have often wondered what others do.

I drink before but wait for 30 minutes.

If you're using it to curb hunger, definitely wait to drink afterward. That being said, sometimes I will drink a shake (not very often) if I'm under my calorie or protein goal for the day, and in that case...if I'm not hungry...I will continue to drink after the shake. But I'm not the normal person when it comes to protein shakes, lol.

It really shouldn't matter. They're both just fluid anyway, so with a bypass will both flow straight out of the stomach.

It really really seems like it wouldn't matter, but every once in a while I try to eat something just after drinking a shake, and I can't really because I feel full. It feels like I ate something. For this reason, I try not to drink for a while after drinking a shake. If my stomach thinks it's food, hey, I'll let it continue to operate under that misconception...

I'm exactly the same - a protein shake satisfies my pouch but strangely, a glass of milk does not.
