Sorry to hear of all the issues you are facing with this complication. It certainly looks extremely difficult to manage but at the same time it sounds like you have a great team around you.

I'm beginning the assessment process with an endocrinologist next week. I was interested reading up about his practise and noticed there is a bariatric surgery nutritionist in his practice despite there being no bariatric surgeons there. I suspect that there are far more patients suffering some level of hypoglycemic episodes post bypass surgery than are ever reported. As you talk about in your blog, I noticed how unwell I felt long before I discovered what was going on. At no stage did drs suggest blood sugar issues, although a couple of orthopedic specialist and a gynaecologist all said that my body was reacting/healing like they only see in diabetics.....but I wasn't one and never had been. After the third one said that I bought a blood glucose monitor and started taking readings when I felt unwell. It was taking those off my own back that started the ball rolling. Despite working on this issue for about 5 months now, my bariatric surgeon still doesn't know about it although I will tell him at my next checkup. If we aren't in their statistics then they can't know these kinds of issues are as frequent in the population as they seem to be.....hence no preoperative warnings.

I certainly hope for your sake that you find improvement now you have a plan to manage the condition.
