Thanks @Kio and @Jen581791 - I don't have the foggiest idea whether sugar alcohols affect my blood sugar, and I'm doing alright with keeping my total carbs low, so I think I'm going to keep on keeping on. Good to think about for the future, though! I really appreciate the context.

Exactly. I think it's a good way to prevent my crazy diet-brain from thinking things like this. I DO need fiber, and I don't want to avoid fiber because it's carbs. Which my crazy diet brain would have me do if I were counting it.

Exactly the case for me, too. I've done Atkins for so many years, I know how well counting net carbs works. Fiber and sugar alcohols don't impact my blood sugar like other carbs do.
