Looks like chigger bites...do y'all have those in Boston??  They are usually found in grass/weeds and can't usually be seen.  Itch like the devil.  Have an affinity for tight spaces...dare I ask, any around underwear/elastic area?

@msmarymac - no, none around the undies; these were totally focused on my legs below the calf.  I WAS in pretty high weeds, though - we had let the side yard go all to hell while we were prepping for, and then actually on our vacation.  It was about knee height in some places.  It's possible that there was a mix - some of them were definitely mosquitoes because I saw the little monsters, but other bites do look like the little red dots the internet just told me about...

Chiggers are a part of summer in this part of the US.  A dreadful part!  We learn as kids never to venture out into grass without some sort of protection: bug spray, or sulfur powder.  They are dreadful little buggers and itch like nothing else.  Hope you're starting to get some relief by now.  We used to coat the bites with clear fingernail polish to keep from scratching.  Or, if you're tough enough use rubbing alcohol on them.  It burns like fire but that burning sensation seems to keep it from itching lol.  We're pretty brutal here in the plains :)

@CheeringCJ - Ha!  I'd be all about not cooking it as long, but Leah thinks anything cooked to less than 165 degrees is poison.  She is the source of all my troubles!

Tell me - in a PM if this interface is too weird - how does a sous vide work, anyway?  I saw your picture of one a while back and for the life of me can't figure out how it cooks things!!

Actually it is pretty easy once you figure it out...it's been trial and error but some things turn out so excellent it's worth it. You fill a big stock pot with water (I have a huge 60/40 stainless steel farmhouse sink and I put pan in the 40 side and fill it with water then I put the sous vide in it. (it stands up and screws on to the side of the pan). Then you plug it it, set he temp and timer (mine is all on an app so I just look up the info and hit the button).  When the water warms to that temp (which is surprisingly quick and I don't keep my hot water heater high), then you drop the meat in it in a sealed plastic bag. The sous vide heats the water and has a little "fan" kind of blade at the.bottom.that circulates the water.  So your meat has a constant temperature water circulating around it the whole time. It cooks super evenly, inside and out so there's no overcooked and dried out outside and raw inside. The one thing it doesn't do it Brown or crisp it. So when it's done you just take.it out and throw it in a hot skillet for a minute or two to brown it and viola, a delicious meal!

I use it for scallops and they turn out perfectly (I hate scallops if they aren't cooked in the center but.if.you cook it too long they get tough so as much as I love scallops, I rarely made them.bc I never got it right. Now I get them perfect every time ...and they're great calorie and macro-wise!).

Most things don't take too long (up to an hour) but I did pork ribs with it this weekend and they took 12 hrs!!! I guess bc I'd the bones in.them.etc. Then we threw them on the grill for a little bit with BBQ sauce and they were awesome!!! The meat just fell.off the bones   it wasn't dry or tough, just perfectly moist and delicious. I only had room for about 4 oz but I ate nothing else (no veggies) bc it was so delicious!

Here's the scallops I made recently.
