  1. My surgeon doesn't have us counting grams of protein we eat. He just wants each meal to be 70% protein and 30% vegetables. Which with only eating 2 ounces each meal is basically 1 1/2 ounces protein and 1/2 ounce vegetables. Their reasoning for not wanting us to have protein drinks is because they want us to actually eat our protein.
  2. Thank you all for your input. I was thinking it may not be actual hunger because it doesn't rumble like when I am hungry just kind of sits there feeling hungry if that makes since. It always goes away by the time I wake up. I will definitely try to drink more fluids. I've come to see my surgeon does the nutrition different than most, I have been on yogurt and cottage cheese since day 4 and today I get to start eggs, and beans. I am not supposed to have protein drinks. Anyways, I will definitely try and drink more and maybe make my meals a bit closer together. I had Gastric Bypass, btw Wendy.
  3. Hi everyone, So I am not even a week post op, that will be on Thursday and last night I started feeling this feeling in my stomach that felt like hunger.... I thought maybe I was wrong and it was just gas but then again tonight it is happening. I am eating as my doctor says and have already reached my 64 oz of water a day goal as of yesterday. I wasn't hungry not even a little bit until now. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm just a little worried maybe I'm one of the unlucky ones who it wont work for. However, I have lost 10 lbs since surgery and again its not even been a full week.
  4. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having issues. I'm 3 days post op today, I dont have much pain but the nausea is what is getting me. They gave me beef broth in the hospital yesterday for lunch and just the thought of it now makes me want to vomit. I had sugar free jello for dinner and that seemed ok but ugh the broth lol. I'm worried about a stricture myself, I took my vitimins this morning and so far so good but I could feel them going down which was weird. I seem to be doing ok with water but idk. I cried yesterday told my husband I shouldn't have done this, but like he said its for the best and it will get better. I had my gallbladder out two years ago and that was the easiest thing, I only had slight pain and was up and going the same day, for some reason I had expected this to be the same, which is stupid. Anyways, I hope you are feeling better and I hope my nausea gets better quickly because it sure isn't fun.
  5. Eeeek full body pictures... I don't like them but I suppose that's why I'm doing this.

It is SO tough to see your full body as you go through your journey, especially very early on. I think my first photo was at 3 weeks post op because I despised myself that much. I hate, hate, hate seeing how I used to be. But after some time, you'll look back at them and be reminded how far you've come. Does it get easier to see your pictures? Eventually, yes....but the reason you're taking them now is a reminder of where you were and where you could be again if you don't put in the work. Hope your surgery went well yesterday and welcome to the losers bench!

  6. Welcome Amanda! I have PCOS, my husband and I have been trying for a baby for over a year and nothing. It was one of the main reasons I went this route. I was diagnosed with it in 2015, but I know I've had it since I hit puberty because that is when my weight issues started. I have surgery on Thursday, and from what I've heard losing the weight definitely helps, sometimes completely resolves infertility issues.
  7. Thinking of you! My surgery is on Thursday and I'm freaking out a bit.
  8. My worst habit by far was the amount of soda I would drink. Coca Cola was my drug. My husband always liked to point it out whenever I told him he needed to quit smoking.
  9. You look amazing I can't wait until I weigh less than my husband lol
  10. Thank you for this post, it has really helped me. Even though I was super impatient and wanted the process to hurry up now that I am only a week away from surgery I'm glad it has taken as long as it has because man I am freaking out a bit now. My husband keeps telling me to just remember why I wanted it in the first place and that he will be there when I am taken in and will be there when I wake up. I sure am lucky to have such an amazing supportive husband. I'm glad to hear yours went well, hopefully next week at this time I'll be done and starting my journey.

Great news!  You will be on the losers bench very soon.  I have never regretted having my gastric bypass - life as a thin, healthy and active person is really great.

My surgery was the 7th! If you need and help or support feel free to reach out to me!

  12. Yay!!! I finally got my date after what seems like forever! September 8th
  13. I just spoke with a girl there and apparently they never heard from my insurance so I emailed them a copy of my letter, that I got in the mail today. They said it could take up to 5 days for them to call and schedule. Why that is annoying I guess I have to deal with it.
  14. So my insurance approved my WLS on Thursday the 18th, I was so excited but knew I had to wait for the doctors office to call me. I haven't heard a peep and I am SO bad at this waiting game lol. I know I am and I know they have a ton of other patients, not just me but geez I just want a date already. So I was just curious was anyone else like me and how long did you have to wait between approval and scheduling surgery?
