1 year 8 months post surgery and 22# to go
savannah91 replied to terrible30's topic in Post-op Gastric Bypass
I'm from NC too! I am 2 weeks away from being a year out!!! Yay! I've lost a little over 100 pounds. For the past 2 months my scale has been stuck. I was getting slack about writing down everything that I was eating so I am back to doing that now. I'm thinking about doing the 5 day pouch reset next week to see if that gets things moving. I wish you the best! We can do this!!! -
So after RNY we have to take vitamins but what is your schedule like when you take them? I'm heard don't take iron with calcium etc. To be honest I haven't been taking my vitamins for a few months but thankfully levels are still good. So I'm restarting with vitamins and I am so lost on when to take them and how many. I don't go back to the doctor until next month so I figured you all could help. Thanks in advance!

I'm so happy I stumbled upon this. I went to my post op appointment at 4 weeks only to find out I hadn't lost any weight in a week. How depressing that was. The scale still hasn't moved a week later but I'm happy to see that stalls are normal.

My third and fourth week I didn't lose any weight either. I have issues with getting my protein and fluids in but I am doing better. Overall, since surgery I've lost 25 lbs.

I have one more week of pureed (soft) foods. I need help though with food ideas. I have been eating a scrambled egg every morning without issues and this morning it made me so sick! So there is one less protein source for me. I'm tired of soups and staying away from things like mashed potatoes. I don't actually have to puree what I eat as long as I chew it super good. Please help me with other ideas. Thanks!

what did everyone lose their first month?

I'm only 2.5 weeks out and I've lost 22 pounds. -
Remember to walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip. You don't want to get dehydrated and the walking will help a lot with your soreness. Welcome to the losers bench!

Less than a week away!

I started the diet on Tuesday. So far I have lost 7lbs! Its isn't as bad as I originally thought it would be. I am at work all day and keep myself busy. This weekend will be a totally different story but I will just clean, clean, clean to keep myself busy. And as for the Optifast it is drinkable. I don't love the taste of it but it doesn't make me gag.

I start my all liquid and lean meat 1x a diet next Tuesday. I am beyond nervous. The protein drink the surgeon requires us to drink is Optifast which I find all flavors of it absolutely disgusting! I have to do this for only 2 weeks but I have a feeling I am going to dread drinking that awful stuff. There are many other protein drinks I don't mind at all but this one literally makes me gag. I know it isn't going to be easy and this will definitely test my will power. Anyways, how bad is the diet? In my head I think I will be starving. Does it get easier after a couple days? Luckily I can eat 3

It took them maybe a week from my seminar that I did online for them to call with my consultation appointment. I'd wait a week and then if they haven't contacted you then I'd call them. They have been super fast with everything!

Forgot to mention, if you decide to go with the sleeve then you will be required to do an upper gi test. I'm going with RNY but the nutritionist mentioned that as a requirement. BCBS NC aka the state plan will cover both.
