How low fat is your diet now?
princessblog replied to Carnie's topic in Post-Op Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy
I don't even track my fat grams. I do low carb, high protein. -
I promise you its going to get better! I had complications while still in the hospital, and my husband had a leak post op and had to spend another week in the hospital plus 2 more on TPN. Neither one of us would change our decision. When you lose the weight, you will realize how compromised your body really was being morbidly obese. Best of luck and I hope you recover quickly.

You look awesome!

OK, opposing opinion here...I cheated on my pre op diet as well. I don't think it had anything to do with my commitment level...it's just very difficult to go from eating normally to living on basically liquids overnight, especially without the restriction you receive once you've had surgery. I knew my commitment level was there, and once I had the surgery I had very little problem with staying on plan. I don't see as much danger with slipping up presurgery as I do with sabotaging yourself post surgery. I get very concerned when I hear of people slipping in cake or ice cream or whatever. Bottom line to me is, once you have the surgery you have to follow a very strict diet to be successful. Only you can answer the question of whether you had a weak moment and gave into the hunger, or there is something larger at play. I would encourage you to be very honest with yourself before you proceed. Best of luck to you going forward, and feel free to ask questions along the way. Surgery isn't a miracle cure for weight loss, but it certainly can be successful if you follow the program. You will get lots of support here as you continue your journey.

Goodwill, thrift and consignment stores were where I bought the bulk of my clothes until recently. I'm buying more retail, but still looking for bargain basement prices. I just got a precious little sweater dress from lastcall.com for $14! Once I'm stable I'll spend more. I'll echo what everyone else said about it being a lot more fun now that you are in regular sizes!

I think the best thing I do is start every meal with dense protein - it fills me up and leaves no room for carbs. Once you get away from the carbs, it's fairly easy to keep them at bay. However, if you reintroduce them, then you will crave more of them.

Very well said! Lots of wisdom in this post. -
Y'all are all wonderful! Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to a party tomorrow night, and trying to decide between the grey dress and the wine...decisions, decisions lol

Shoeties vs Booties
-
Last dress... With the black tights I feel it's too monochromatic - bare legs to show contrast.
-
Dress#2... It's a deep wine color, so black??
-
Ok dress #1...grey tights or black?
