  1. Surgery was NOT successful.... :(

Wow Kindred, May is not a very lucky month...I am so sorry to hear about everything you just went through. I wish you the best of luck and like many people have already said, many successful Sleeves on the forum, you will be fine. Keep the faith and just keep your sights towards the goal! Take Care!
  2. May 19th...Here we Go!

Well, it looks like I will not be joining the May group after all, my surgeon's office called me on Friday to let me know that my insurance is not covering the surgery. So here is the story, when this process began I spoke to my insurance company and received two separate answers to the question if GPB surgery was covered in my plan. Due to not getting a straight answer I called our broker to get the answer and she sent me an e-mail informing me she spoke to a rep and if it is medically necessary, it would be covered. When I had my first appointment I informed the office staff of what happened and gave them the e-mail. I naturally have been concerned with the approval and kept asking if it has been put through. I was told by the precert nurse that she needed the psych evaluation to submit my paperwork, so I got that done rather quickly. I never heard and every time I asked about authorization I was told not to worry about it. The precert nurse left, frankly I hope she was fired, but either way no one could answer about my approval. This past Monday, at my pre admission appointment, I asked the new manager of the practice about my approval and she told me it must have been submitted, but she would check. I also paid my $60 copay to see the surgeon to sign consent forms. So I called on Thursday and she told me that everything was submitted and the insurance was calling on Friday morning....hence then the denial. Upon further conversation she acted surprised the this wasn't covered and I explained the entire story and that they had the info. I told her about the psych and she said I needed all clearances, so even if this is the truth, they should have had it sent in at least a week and a half before my pre-admission date. Well to say the least, I am disappointed, but you have to play the cards you are dealt. I did file an appeal, but it is going to be a long fight and I will just have to keep doing what I have been doing. Hopefully my diabetes will improve with the weight loss, but if not, maybe the appeal will be successful, we shall see. Sorry to share such bad news, but everyone here has been so helpful, I had to share this bump in the road.
  3. PSA Test...

Hello, I am sorry for being MIA. Aviator, I was told that and I appreciate you letting me know. I did have my blood test and it had to be 2.6 or below to avoid a biopsy and to be approved... Well, God works in wonderful ways...my test came back at 2.6!!!! That was the final approval I needed.
  4. May 19th...Here we Go!

I had my pre-op pre admission testing today and met with the surgeon...it went well. I am a little more stable and I am focusing that this is to put my diabetes under control, so we move forward. When I spoke to the nurse about my few hiccups with my pre op you would have thought I killed someone, when I spoke to the surgeon, he was much more supportive and stated that if he did surgery on only perfect people, he might do one a year. I want to thank you all for your support and good luck tomorrow Triadchick, my thoughts and prayers are with you!
  5. May 19th...Here we Go!

Lennie, you are very preceptive...I am doing so well with my weight loss and not so well with sticking to the liquid diet, even though I lost 11 pounds on it. I guess the fact is that I am doing well, but I am adding to it and the liver shrinking part is what is worrying me. I am doing this surgery for my diabetes and even this is getting better with the weight loss. I will be at the pre-op tomorrow and go from there.
  6. May 19th...Here we Go!

Hello everyone, I can't tell you the last time I was on the site. I just finished my BS from West Chester University and the last four weeks before graduation were crazy. I am still scheduled for the 19th, though the Dr's office has not placed the paperwork for the approval and my pre-op admission testing is tomorrow. I am not having a great feeling about all of this. On top of that, I have not been doing super on my modified liquid diet. I am suppose to have two shakes a day and then one meal of 4oz of meat, 1 cup of vegetables and a salad. Now, I am not cheating terribly, but i do have a handful of peanuts in the afternoon and have had two protein bars this week. I end the day with my two spelt cakes with almond butter on them, just can't give them up. I am hoping that my liver has shrunk over the last four months by eating no white carbs. I am also down 53 pounds, so it is not all bad. Now that I have whined a bit, just want to thank you all for listening.
  7. 4 months post op/7 weeks pregnant

Congrats...I noticed the date and would recommend December 7th and yes before a history points it out, I know it is the day that will live in infamy! However, my mother was baptized on the actual December 7, 1941 and then I came along 25 years later. Anyway, having a baby is a wonderful thing!!!!
