  2. What are you mixing your protein drink with? Skim Milk? Maybe it is the milk and you have become Lactose Intorrent. Maybe try lactaid? I have not tired it, but other people in my program have tried and like it. I use a protein mix called Isopure. It has 52g of protein for 2 scoops, but I only use 1 scoop at a time. I do mix it with skim milk and it has very little sugar in it. I buy it at GNC. Good luck and let us know what you try and what works for you!
  3. Debra, Welcome to TT. I hope you take advantage of all the wonderful forums out here. This was a great for me. The program I am in is a wonderful program and we have a wonderful support group, but everyone out here is wonderful and has a world of information to offer. As everyone has said, everyone of us is different. I had no pain after my surgery. I think I used the morphine twice while I was in the hospital. I did that only to go back to sleep after being woken up in the middle of the night by the nurses. I had no problems with my liquids and I had no problems with anything when I came home. I went back to work after 2 weeks, but if I had to do over again, I think I would have taken off 3 weeks. I have a pretty laid back job and was able to chill out when I needed to, which made it nice. The 3rd or 4th day at work, I came home early because I was exhausted, but after that I was fine. You definitley need to think about it all, because there is no telling how you will personally feel, but you will get through it. Good luck and we look forward to seeing more on your progress.
  4. Hi all TT friends! Wow it has been months since I have been on here. I want everyone to know I am doing great since I had the surgery. I feel I have been very, very lucky. I have not had any problems and I am continuing to do great. All my blood work results have been good thus far and I go for my 6 month check up this month. My protein was borderline, but I have been trying really hard to make sure I keep it up everyday. Some days it is tuff, but I try to do what I have to get my protein in. It will be interesting to see how it is at my 6 month appt. All my other blood work has been great. My cholesterol is back to normal numbers, my blood sugar levels are back to normal, and I am monitoring my blood pressure now. Keep your fingers crossed this will get decreased and eventually eliminated. I cannot wait. Yes I have gone through the plateaus like everyone else, but you overcome them and you continue to loose the weight. As of Monday 3/2/09 I am down 73 pounds. Yes I am a scale #!@$% and I am proud to admit it. I cannot help it I have to do it. I started out in a size 24 and now I am down to a misses 16. OMG - I never thought I would be shopping on the regular girls side of the store. It is really weird, but it has been fun. It has been amazing to me how quickly your pant sizes change. I try to wear them as long as I can, but I have to admit it is hard. Once they are big, I am ready to put on that next size. I am going down and not up and that is a great feeling. Wanted to say Hi again to everyone and I will be snooping around the boards again.

  6. I am still here. I need to get out here and post. Have been so busy and sick. Surgery wise everything is going great. Guess the immune system is down and trying to over come that, but I am finally doing better.

  9. Hi all! Things seem to be going really well. I started back to work last week and it was a very long and tiring week, but I almost made it through. I ended working a half day on Thursday, which is what I think I needed. This week has been very good at work. I feel really good so far. I am still taking it easy at work, but I am not exhausted when I get home from work. Now if I can just get myself to the gym to walk on the treadmill, I will be getting on the right track. Eating and adding food seems to be going very well. Knock on wood, I have not had any issues with food. I did eat lunch too fast one day so I learned how that makes you feel, but other than that everything seems to be going really well. I am still working on trying to get all my water in. That is a struggle and it is really hard to drink. It seems if I wait 30 minutes to drink it it makes my stomach feel yucky. If I start drinking it about 10 minutes after I eat, it seems to settle much better. I have tried cold and room temperature water it doesn't seem to matter.

  11. Congrats on your successful thus far and it will continue, no matter what you think. I will be 2 weeks out on Monday. I have had the hunger pains but I eat or drink what is currently allowed and it helps. I have not had any problems with anything thus far and I hope that continues for my sake. I made my self a schedule to have an idea of when I need to eat and I try to stick to it. I just fix my meals when it is time to eat and my mom (who is helping take care of me) and my hubby (who is in the Navy and really busy right now) eat when they are ready. I get to start my 6 mini meals and I am going back to work on Monday and I have already started planning the meals and times I should be eating to get everything in. I am fully on all my vitamins and meds until they see if I can come off my blood pressure in a couple of months. I have been taking in a minimum of 50 grams of protein from protein drinks. I drink it with 4 oz of skim milk twice a day and it is like chocolate milk. It is very smooth and tasty, I just make sure I shake it really really well. I am not near 64 oz of water now, but they want us drinking from 1 to 1.5 liters of water a day. Which I am able to get in the liter and am working on getting to 1/5 liters. For the most part I feel satisfied and I am comfortable after eating, but I am looking forward to some scrambled eggs in the morning. Good luck and keep up the great work. Just remember, the most important thing is to listen to your body.
  12. My legs are doing my better, almost back to 100%. It makes it much easier to get up and walk to be able to things for my self and not have to rely on others, especially my mom. Going to the store is the easiest thing to do. I can hold on to the cart and walk, walk, walk. Plus I am getting done whatever shopping needs to be done.
  13. Thanks Mike! I hope it continues as well as it has. I am glad to see the weight is starting to come off and I have gotten rid of all the water weight from being in the hospital. My husband is a submariner in the Navy they are also referred to as bubbleheads. A common quote for us is "My Hubby's a Subby", so that is where it came from. Thanks again!
  14. I am sure everything will go just as smooth for you. My advice, is make sure you are prepared, especially for all the bad things (i.e. pain, making yourself walk, sitting and not laying) and you will do just fine. I was expecting a much worse experience and I feel I had a great one. Thank you all for your support and encouragement - it all helps and continues to help.
