  1. Very pleased I'm back to just under my goal weight - I received many complements when I returned to work (after 3 months off) and gained a little - relaxed a bit too much!! I have a fitbit flex now- it is really helping motivate me - I get my 10,000 steps in every day and log my calories !!! I would highly recommend it if you are struggling a bit!!
  2. I've done 10,000 steps every day I've had it- very motivating- I did 2 treadmill sessions today to make 10,000 Hoping to be able to get back to walking a 5k soon- at a reasonable pace!!
  3. I decided a flexband may suit me better as I strongly suspect I'll lose the clip. Certainly has kept me on tract with steps etc- Get my 10,000 steps in and log my calories! Motivated and happy with it!
  4. I love a good "smelly farts" thread.... somedays it's just as well I live alone.... have to be careful at work though... the windows in our new office don't open.....
  5. My equation is (Calories in - Calories Out) x Metabolic efficiency- not sure how you work that out- I'm sure its more complicated than resting pulse rate- just a suggestion...

  7. Made my 10,000 steps- Wahoo!! Went for a walk up and down the road/path in my complex to get it in !!
  8. Ok- My new fitbit one is on my wrist! Not to far off bed!! Keen to see what it can do - and what I actually do step and sleep-wise! The location of my office has moved to the far side of the hospital so exciting- and help me get a little more on track! Doing Aqua aerobics a couple of times per week- will work out later how to add that in! Have re-gained a couple of kilos since going back to work after my knee replacement! Starting C25K as soon as my treadmill moved- hopefully tomorrow- Any tips on my fitbit one's use much appreciated!!

I think it also depends what you do/ where you work- I work in health- specifically Diabetes- it gives me the opportunity to share if appropriate and I mean IF- It is a personal choice to tell or not too... I choose to -often- ... and I'm proud to admit I chose surgery as my tool! What people think of my choice is their business not mine-
  10. I'm just back at work after three months off - so it's really noticeable to others now how much I've lost! I've been a slow slow loser all along but the high stress of surgery and working hard at physio has really helped me change shape and drop a few kilos. My standard reply when someone asks- I had Gastric Bypass surgery in Dec 2011 and I have worked really hard ever since. If questioning or discussion continues - I say something similar to - like everything it's a tool- I eat smaller portions and exercise as I can- and am really happy with how I'm going..... works for me...
  11. PS- make sure you wear good socks and put a small amount of Vaseline under your toes- it will really protect them... please let us know how you get on...
  12. I say go for it- it doesn't matter where you come- but just be careful -you are still very early out of revision surgery - it IS MAJOR surgery!! I used to think I would be so embarrassed because I'd finish 15 mins after everyone else- until someone on here reminded me it doesn't matter WHERE I come or WHEN I finish- my friends would be proud of me- my family would be proud of me and I would be proud of myself for even giving it a go! They were right- 3 yrs ago I'd have to rest between my office and my car in the carpark- about 600 steps- now I can walk 5 k's !!!! (running is out for me) I am still self conscious about being last- but you are finishing ahead of all those still sitting on the couch!!! To answer your first question... it is not normal or ok !! It is FANTASTIC you are giving it a go!! Walk- run- whatever you need to do to finish safely- there will always be another 5 k to improve your time- Enjoy your achievement- for the record I am under an hour for 5k but only by a tiny whisker...
