  2. Welcome to the losers bench ZhivagosGirl The early days post-op can be difficult but the best advice I can give is that you take little walks as often as you can - even if it's just around the house.
  3. That's great news - you're almost there! 10lb lost is a great start and I'm glad that hunger hasn't been too much of a problem. Hang in there, you're doing a great job but if the going does get tough, try low sodium/unsalted broth - excellent stuff to have on hand when you come home from surgery too. Walmart has a pretty good selection.
  4. Peppermint and green teas can help with bloating and gas but make sure that take regular short walks - even if it's just around the house and/or yard.
  5. Congratulations Lara - exciting times ahead for sure. Keep focused - this is not an easy road but the rewards are amazing. And don't forget to have someone lined up to take regular photo's front and sideways on too - same pose - something like every month. They will prove helpful because if you're anything like most of us, you could look into a mirror until hell freezes over and not see a change in the shrinking you.

  9. That is outstanding Tracy! Got to ask ... are you going to settle at 160.8lb or are you going to try to drop a few more pounds? Your initial goal is showing 180lb.

It needs to stand out for what it is.

  12. I had my RNY back in September 2007 and have taken them on the days that I don't have yogurt for breakfast (Stonyfield Organic Plain Whole Milk). Personally, I feel much better for taking probiotics/consuming yogurt etc. daiiy.
  13. That's all well and good but early out when we lose weight at a pretty fast pace, buying new pants (or having their tailored) can end up pretty expensive. Goodwill or Thrift stores are worth checking out.
  14. Welcome to Thinner Times CynthiaD. Best advice I can offer is that you keep a detailed record of your diet - exactly what you ate and the amount. One possibility it that you're eating a little too much at one time and/or eating it too quickly?
  15. Sam weighs a good 70lb - 75lb - typical for Canadian Labrador bitch. My neighbours silver lab bitch is around 50lb and looks like a dwarf next to her. Wish you were my neighbour. David would have a field-day sprucing up our house.
  16. Thankfully, I don't have my neighbours dogs to walk Trish although it's not unusual for the younger one to sneak over here to play with Sam but I don't mind that. I just walk her back home when Sam has had enough. I call them neighbours but I can neither see the house or hear them unless they're using the sit-on mower or whatever.
  17. There's lots of good reading on hypoglycemia - just type that into our search engine (upper right of this page). Best advice I can offer is that you get yourself a glucose meter, keep detailed records of your numbers, your diet including amounts/weights and the time and whether it it caused your blood sugars to drop. That will be of help to your surgeon or PCP. My triggers were grains, cereals and legumes (I was fine if I avoided them). Start listing your foods (and that means weighing/measuring everything), include the times - record any negative responses. Finding out what kicks your hypoglycemia off is really important. Starchy carbs were the kicker for me and ultimately, I had to limit my serving to around 9g per serving. Eat something no less than 2 hourly. Thankfully, fresh fruit and veg didn't cause me a problem - nor did dairy but beans were guaranteed to bring on low blood sugar levels. Keep something like glucose tablets around you at all times. Personally, I hated them and they're expensive. I used regular LifeSavers - 2 1/2 got my blood sugars back up. But keep a record of episodes including what you ate and the time - that will be helpful to your doc/surgeon.   19. Welcome to Thinner Times! You haven't mention whether you're going to or have had weight loss surgery but my reply would be the same either way. You may not have lost inches but I'd put money on you having lost weight having lived for 3 days on yogurt. But don't rely on just yogurt - hit the salads and vegetables with some lean protein. You need to be on a diet that's balanced and sustainable. Try not to weigh yourself more than once a week. I had my husband hide them from me because I couldn't keep off them - if they were down, I felt great but if they weren't, that led me to throw in the towel and stuff myself stupid.
  20. Do a search on "breasts" or "boobs". It's a popular subject. I went from a 46D down to a 32" sports bra (just for the support - I have a small frame). But I was in my 50's when I had my WLS. Had I been younger, I may way have explored cosmetic surgery.
  21. I'm with Res Ipsa - not all food measures the same and for that reason, I still follow my guidelines to weigh solid food and measure liquids with calories. I LOVE Horizon Organic Fat Free Milk and would drink it all day long if I could but at even at just 90 calories/cup, those calories would mount up if I didn't limit myself to 1 or 2 cups a day I'll be 14 years post-RNY this September and maintain my weight at 112-115lb. I'm 5'5" with a small frame.
  22. Welcome to Thinner Times and congratulations on starting your weight loss surgery journey. Exciting times ahead for sure. I hear you on looking forward to getting on a roller coaster ride although that would be a little too much for me. One of my goals was to be able to fit my derrière into a playground swing. I hadn't been able to fit in one since I was something like 9 or 10. Now, when I take my dog for a walk, I often go down the kiddies slide for no other reason than I can. Keep focused on your goals.
