Few More Days Until My 6 Weeks

Hi everyone! I never thought to even look at the support group forums (duh). It's nice to see people who have had surgery around the same time I have. I am six weeks out, but I'm having some trouble making the transition to solid foods. There are a lot of foods that my new stomach really doesn't like right now. I don't think I'm in a place where I could even try a protein bar yet. But the nurses at the surgeon's office said that I just have to take it a little slower than most people. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to you guys. Good luck and enjoy those protein bars -Crystal-

What Should I Say To My Doctor?

I just told my doctor that I was interested in WLS and asked if there were any surgeons in the area that she recommended. Luckily, she was all for it and sent me to a wonderful hospital!

    My Before Photo!

I know exactly what you mean about photos; especially my wedding photos. I was at my absolute heaviest when we got married. I hated getting the photos taken, but I did it because it was one of the happiest days of my life and I felt like I owed that much to my wonderful husband. I keep only 1 wedding picture out, and I also made my wedding photo album on facebook so I was the only person who could see it about a week after the wedding. You looked beautiful on your wedding day, and I'm sure you will only be more so as you gain your confidence. Good luck with your surgery!!!
  4. Sugar Free pudding cups are awesome! If you decide to make the do-it-yourself kind, you can bump up the protein by putting some protein powder in there.

Someone Please Smack Some Sense Into Me

What about liquid versions of your meds? You could always ask your pharmacy if there's anything available.

    7 months out . . .

Maybe when your husband saw you losing so much weight, it motivated him to start! That isn't something to be bitter about. Whether you realize it or not, your weight loss is an inspiration to people around you. There isn't much you can do about that. I know it's easy for me to say this because I don't feel emotional about the issue like you do, but you should be elated to be inspiring other people to get healthy. You took the initiative to do something about your weight struggles rather than wait around for someone to inspire you. That is something to be proud of!

    tell me....

My pre-op diet was only for the week following surgery, but I lost 7 pounds. Here it is..... Breakfast: Protein shake Morning snack: 1 piece of fruit Lunch: Protein shake Afternoon snack: 1 piece of string cheese or a hard boiled egg Dinner: A pre-portioned meal (Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, etc.) Evening snack: 1 piece of string cheese or a hard boiled egg I didn't find this to be too difficult, but I only had to do it for a week.

    Surgery in 1 week HELP

I am one week post-op. The week before my surgery, I had gained 4 pounds in the month since my last appointment. They told me that I had to lose that weight and come back just 2 days before my surgery to be weighed. I was so nervous! I thought that I had blown my chance to have surgery. But that's when I realized how badly I wanted this and put my love for food in check, and just did what I had to do. When I went back, I had lost 6 pounds and my surgery was on! I was so excited. As of today, I have lost 12 pounds in the week since surgery. It hasn't been easy, but it has been worth it. Just hang in there and keep telling yourself what's important to you and you will do fine!

    New to the Forum

Hi Becca! I've been on here for a little while, but I haven't been very active. It seems like a pretty good source for support, especially if you aren't getting much around you. I just had gastric bypass on Thursday, and I am just trying to stay comfortable. I actually have to force myself to "eat" my liquid diet 6 times a day, but I'm not really feeling very hungry. I never thought I would hear myself say that. So, I wish you the best of luck with your surgery, and hopefull I will see you around!

    It's the Final Countdown

I'll be going in for surgery on the 9th. I am sooo excited to take the pictures of myself as I progress. I think I'm going do it in different outfits that fit my body at the time, and that way there is no loose clothing to hide my progress. I have a feeling that those pictures will come in handy on those days when I feel like I'm not making progress at all. Good luck with your surgery! And...when in doubt, you should probably listen to the docs over your husband
