VSG day and ready to rock!

LOL, spent the day at work trying to get more done. I'm too excited to sit still and do much paperwork - plus the weather has been absolutely gorgeous! I think I did more walking and staring at the ocean than actual nesting.  Ah well, still have tomorrow....

Thanks everyone! My report time is much later than I anticipated (9am) and I briefly toyed with the idea of going in to work for a few hours. After working 12 hrs today, I have to say stop. If its not done now, it will have to wait! Luckily the long work day should help me fall asleep faster!

Take PAIN medication, change positions often (switch sides, stand up and lean forward holding onto a chair touch for ten seconds,...), massage pelvic region, gas x, arms up often, mint tea, walk a lot. Gas was awful for me, too. It only lasts a few days. So sorry!

@CZJ

Recommend taking a probiotic too - surgery does a huge number on the bacteria living in your gut. For what it is worth, and this is not a commercial endorsement just a "this is what I did" I took the Culturelle lactobacillus GG probiotic before surgery and then for something like 10 days thereafter. I did not have a single instance of painful gas... and so far as I can tell, in the group that had surgery while I have been on the Forum almost everyone else has had painful gas. I personally think it made a big difference.

Hope this is helpful and that your painful gas... goes away!

I'm two days post op and the only pain I am feeling is at the incision sites - worse at the stomach exit point. My sleep schedule is a bit off bc of falling asleep after pain meds but I feel pretty flippin' good. I had been taking probiotics prior to surgery but my discharge instructions said to stop taking them post-surgery. I did have some gas pains right after and into the first night but *knock wood*, no issues now and have been doing lots of walking. Friends and I are planning for beach concerts, farmers markets and parades over the next few days - I'm excited to be out and moving!
