Edging up on 9 months

Just a quick update because I haven't posted a progress pic in a while!  I spent a lot of time in Boston today, shopping for a sleeper sofa for the new house.  Most of that time was in Room & Board, and when I found myself in front of a huge wall made of mirrors, it seemed like a good time.  And since I'm feeling a bit brave, here is a night before shot I have never posted.  I reserve the right to yank this down tomorrow if my nerve fails me!  I regret my choice to do my "before" practically undressed... it makes me super anxious about posting them, and I'm totally not posting in bra and undies for my afters. ;)   I tried to get them about the same size/perspective so it would be a good comparison otherwise, though.  I can't help the fact that I was in a ball cap and look like a Newsie, though.  It was a bad hair day!

Then we went to Muji, a "minimalist Boston retailer" that had a little of everything - housewares, clothes, furniture, pens & stationery, just a bunch of fun stuff.  I found out I'm a medium for the purposes of linen sack dresses.  :D  Riding on the train provided another NSV.  Not only did I fit comfortably in a seat right next to Leah - there was SPACE between us!!  About an inch of it!!!  I found it so exciting I had to take a picture, of course - mine is the leg on the right.  :)

And now on to the life update...

I may not be around much next week, and I absolutely won't be posting on my 9-month surgiversary.  Turns out we're not going to have the leisurely move-out week we had hoped for.  Events have conspired against us. Instead, we're going to have to have all of our stuff out of our house on the 7th, and camp out on a futon with a cat and a dog in an empty house until the morning of the 8th, when we'll have the closing on our current house.  Then we will have the closing on the new house that afternoon, and move everything, including three frazzled women, five unhappy cats and a dog, ...into a house that won't have any internet until the 9th.

On the plus side, we get to the house early!  I'm super excited about that.  On the minus side, we have to be ready five full days before we had planned to move, and we have 24 hours in which to accomplish it when we'd thought we'd have a week.  (I have already said my "I told you so's" to Meg and Leah, who have been making fun of me for packing like a mad thing for the past week or so when "we have so much time to move!")

Anyway, I will be around when I can, and I'll still be reading and reacting - just probably not posting much after this coming Monday!  I'll leave you with these bonus pics of the beasts, though:

Wow! I do not envy you for having to move so quickly at all! I despise moving. We are actually putiing our house on the market in mid June. Hoping to sell and move back to the coast to be closer to our son and grandson. But, we both despise the physical part of moving. Ugh.I guess that it doesn't help that we are pack rats either. lol

You will be in so much better shape to do this move than you would have been before WLS. You have done an outstanding job losing the weight and it shows!

Congratulations and thank you for sharing your journey with us.

Brava for posting before and after/during photos! You look great, and a lot more comfortable in your own skin now :) So many NSVs on this post - congrats to you on all of them. I like the thighs not touching photo!

Best of luck on the move. It’s stressful, but then it’s quickly over and a you can block the stress from your memory and just enjoy your new place!!

Hello to the beasts. I hope they think the move is fun-exciting and not scary-exciting.

Wow, just wow.  Your success for far is both amazing and inspirational.  I hope to meet you in person at our Boston get together in late July!

By the way, although I love all animals, I am at core a cat person, so I was thrilled to see that you have a nice looking cat. :)

Hi!  Sorry responding took so long - we're juuuuust starting to get settled in!  Is your house on the market now?  Are you doing photos/open houses, that sort of thing?  It's such a stressful process, but I hope your place sells super fast and high!  Moving closer to family is always a great idea. But I hear you on the packrat thing - not so much me, but Leah and Meg are bordering on hoarder territory!  Our "moving in" has stalled because they both have multiple versions of stuff we don't even need!!

I really could not have done this move before WLS.  There were so many days where I hit or exceeded 10k steps - which is huge for me, I averaged about 1500 a day before WLS!  I haven't done many dog walks the past few weeks, but I've made up for it in schlepping stuff around the new house.  =D  It's always so surprising to find something I can do that I couldn't before... surprising and amazing!

Awww, thanks, @Gretta!  Moving HAS been stressful - but Sadie has taken to this place super fast.  She kind of loves it.  She especially loves our big fenced back yard, and the area of the back yard with some tall plants that give her a fun place to hide and hunt little critters!!!  Every morning when we let her out she runs and checks for chipmunks and whatnot - she thinks she's in doggy heaven!

Hello to the beasts. I hope they think the move is fun-exciting and not scary-exciting.

Thanks!!! I really am so much more comfortable.  Just moving, not hurting... and it keeps getting better!  The "big" changes in terms of pain are mostly done, but with every few pounds lost I notice something new.  Like the stairs - I can go up them without holding on, and have been able to do that for a while, but it's getting easier all the time.  Sometimes it seems to require no effort at all.  I'm at 185 today and things are easier than they were at 200, and at 200 they were easier than at 215... it just keeps going.

The stress is sloooowly ebbing.  But we still have so much to do... every day there are vendors to let in (bug sprayer, security system guys, pool guy, etc) and every day there are deliveries of stuff we've discovered we need, and still there are boxes everywhere and multiples of all our stuff.  So we're doing pretty well but just.... it's a grind.

Sadie is doing GREAT with the move, she loves it.  And she's being really respectful of the added cats, so that's great.  But Xander is having a bit of a hard transition... he's 18, which is like methuselah in Cat Years, and he's spending a lot of nights yowling miserably.  We've picked up some meds from the vet to help chill him out a little, but they will take a couple of weeks to take effect.  That's a lot of not sleeping in my future.... (woe!)

Thanks!  The move is complete, but now we have to deal with the wreckage.  I've never recycled so many cardboard boxes in my LIFE!  And there's so much to learn and get used to about the new place, and animals to get used to each other..... it's a process!  But we're getting ready for our first "housewarming" party, a few friends coming over the weekend of the 7th.  When we've done that, I'll say our move is OFFICIALLY over!

Thank you, Res!   I never thought I might be able to do this.  Just getting this far is crazy.  Happy-making!  But it seems so unrealistic... lol

I'll be there in July, you bet.  (And I too am a cat person at heart.... the dog is an inheritance, and we love her, but the cats are our babies.  Even Xander, pictured above, who is 18!!!

Our house goes on market on Monday. That is the biggest part of the reason that I have not been around here. SO much to do! Still be cutting it close to be ready for pictures on Monday. I really hate the process.

It will be very stressful for us as home prices have gone through the roof on the coast. We have a pretty nice home in the middle of 15 wooded acres where we are now. We LOVE the privacy and many other things about where we are now. When we move, we will never be able to afford anything even remotely close to this.

I hear you about getting your walks in just by the work that you have to do. I am in the same place as you were/are right now. I had my grandson here visiting last week and we went to an amusement park. I did not do as good as I should have with my eating. I was very disappointed in myself. Trying hard to get back on track this week.

A few years ago I had an older cat that was acting up, apparently due to stress. Our vet put the cat on a daily generic Prozac pill (not expensive as it was prescribed to be picked up at our local CVS Pharmacy) and it was quite effective at keeping the cat mellow. I think that the drug took a week or so to become effective.

Xander is on Prozac too!  We started him about two weeks ago.  I think it's starting to work now... no more nightly screaming, at any rate!  We're using a gel formulation that we just rub on the inside of his ear - because he's so prone to vomiting.  Cross fingers for me...

I hope it went well when you went on the market - any updates?!

Sadie has gotten soooo slow in our walks that sometimes it feels like I'm just standing still.  I can't even really qualify them as exercise anymore.  But I joined a gym yesterday, and went in today for orientation and to learn machines and stuff... and it was kind of awesome!  I kept waiting for the machine I just couldn't do, the exercise I wasn't capable of... and we never found one.  =D

Our agent told us that the week of the 4th would be slow as it typically is. She was not kidding about that. We only had one showing this week.

We were on the market the latter part of last year. When my sister (one that passed away) got sick, we took the house off the market. It was pretty busy with showings before we went off the market and this year is supposed to be even better than last with sales. We are in a very rural area so I didn't expect it to sell as quickly as some markets are selling. Just going to have to be patient.

It isn't horrible because we lean towards being pack rats. This is giving us time to really clean out closets and get some odds and ends done before we need to move.
