I can't be trusted

To celebrate my 50 lb loss (yes! 50 lbs! I did it!), I hit the clearance rack at Target. I came home with a sequined dress, a lacy goth-y dress, a lace skirt, and a glittery skirt. I did buy a sensible black sweater dress that I can wear to work, but other than that, it was all shiny glittery lacy stuff. I guess the inner fashionista has made her way out and she can't be trusted at Target.

But I have lost 50 lbs! I had started out with a goal weight of 185, but I shifted that to 179 - a 100 lb loss - so I'm halfway there. I'm down from a size 24 to a size 20. I'm guessing I have a couple of weeks before I can get into a size 18 - already!

I'm going to the gym regularly, but I'm still finding my rhythm. I did cardio today and plan to do upper body tomorrow. I'm taking it pretty easy and using this time to get into the habit and trying not to get caught up in worrying about how many calories I'm burning or how much muscle I'm building. I'm just getting into the swing of things and not pressuring myself. I have to get up at 5:00 a.m. to be able to go and get everyone around in the morning, so that's been not the most fun. However, my husband started school this week - which includes a free gym membership - so he may start getting the kids up and letting me get to the gym a little later than that. I hope that works out. This 5:00 a.m. business is nonsense!

Glad you had fun at Target (don’t get too attached to anything that fits right now, though!).

I absolutely agree that focusing on the habit of going to the gym rather than specific calorie or gain goals is important for those of us who haven’t been regular gym goers. Just doing something on a regular basis is great. With time you’ll probably naturally set some goals for yourself.

5am is uncivilized :o

@Cardamom77 Congratulations!! You are a star! Do post a campy picture of yourself in your most outrageous Target purchase. Must have fun in life.

All things in time re: the gym. Key is to go as @Gretta and @Jen581791 say. It's like investing - if you don't save, then all the talk in the world about how to invest your saved money is just blah blah. Any talk of the details of what kind of exercise to do is pointless if you don't go to the gym on some regular basis.

So, slough the work onto your husband with some kind of vague words about medically required exercise after surgery with pointed insinuations about how if he really loved you he would do more. (This hasn't worked for me but am hoping it might work for you).

I think she would tease me for it, but we've always had different styles. She would have liked it, though, and she would have enjoyed seeing me in it. Thanks for asking that! It's nice to think about. :)

Took the words right off my finger tips. I could never wear things this flashy. They totally work for cardamom though.

my sister would be the same way...I would have worn something flashy and fun (in high school) and she would have thought i was a little crazy (truth be told, i am!) but she'd never have worn what I would have.  We've always had different styles too.  But then again I think sisters growing up together have to to establish their own identity!  Granted my sister was so tiny and thin  (like a size 0 or 1) and I was a huge size (gasp) 10 or 12!!!  So there is no way we could pull off the same things anyway!

Where will you wear this cute dress to?  Going out this weekend?  If not, you need to so you can wear it before it gets too big (and throw on the new colored wig and head out for a fun night on the town....and then post pics so we can all enjoy your fun)! :)

Thanks, everyone! I don't know that I have anything to wear the sequined dress to, but I'll figure something out. Or maybe I'll just clean house in it. Haha!
