About Me
I have been overweight for most of my life. I was a chunky kid then slimmed down in my late teens. I had my son at 20 years old so went right back to being overweight again. I have high blood pressure, PCOS, metabolic syndrome and high cholesterol. I have tried numerous diets and have not been able to lose more than 10 lbs at a time...not matter WHAT I do. WLS is my only hope of losing the weight and keeping it off so I am pursuing Roux en Y gastric bypass surgery. I started this journey the week before Thanksgiving 2010 and hope the have the process completed soon! I am so ready to be healthy! I want to start jogging and be able to do some marathons.
My Mother had gastric bypass last year and has lost 80 some odd pounds. The difference in her is just amazing. She had diabetes so bad that she was on a pump and took 2-3 shots on top of that a day. Her attitude has changed for the better and her outlook on life is just precious to see. This surgery has given her a new lease on life and she is excited that I have decided to have it as well. Even though I have her to guide me, I have done my own research and have even found quite a few things that she did not know. I truly believe that I will be able to change my relationship with food and I look forward to the time that I don't feel so tired and bloated. I have two children (16 & 12) and can't wait until I can have enough energy to be able to 'hang' with them..lol! I am a little nervous about the whole change the insides thing but believe that it will be worth it in the end. Here's to looking forward to changing my life for the better!!!
