Smile Congrats...

Hi Shanaz,
Well congrats on your op and moving onto the losers bench!!
I think what you eat is really up to your surgeon and their dietician did they not give you some idea before you left hospital?
I had my surgery done with Dr Dillemans in Belgium and he leaves us with a bigger pouch to prevent dumping so at 2 days post-op we were on water only and from 3 days on we were allowed a puree diet and melba toast for 2 weeks then we move onto a soft/minced diet for another 2 weeks and from week 5 onwards we can try to attempt normal food as we can tolerate it!
I am nearly at 4 weeks post op and so far so good i am slowly manageing to tolerate more foods but remember to chew, chew, chew!!!
Just for info at the puree stage i lived on ready break, soup, mash, scrambled egg, yoghurt, melba toast.
Good luck, keep us posted.
Luv Noonie X

congrates and welcome aboard......

first off, my opinion, stay away from slim fast. Get a good iso protein, i use Syntha-6 by BSN. It has all 6 types of protein in it and taste great

Make sure your food is soft. at this point, get all your protein from shakes.

eat yogurt (what the sugar content)
LF cottage cheese
egg beaters
refried beans

use this site as much as possible, with out these guys and my wife, i would never had made it.

I am now 6 weeks post-op (so not far from you!) Some ideas I have come across on my travels, from sloppy to mushy to moving on ...

* petit filous
* cheese triangles
* lump free soups
* mashed potato with cheese added
* milk as a meal
* bovril or chicken oxo
* yoghurt
* sugar-free jelly
* tinned tomatoes with brown sauce
* Porridge
* smooth pate
* Fruit puree or pureed tinned fruit
* smoothies
* rice pudding
* scrambled eggs
* philidelphia
* baked beans chewed to mush
* sloppy weetabix
* sugar free custard
* little pots of Philadelphia cheese with mini breadsticks
* mashed banana (with the custard sometimes)
* Angel Delight
* pureed tender beef in gravy
* tuna mayo
* egg mayo
* softly boiled eggs
* tinned spagetti
* coffee made with just milk - gets the protein in
* robinsons sugarfee milkshake mix - same reason
* fish in sauce with blended carrot
* cottage or shepherds or fish pie - small ready made ones, divided up with a little mashed veg
* fish fingers
* fish cakes
* crab meat mayo
* Smash/instant mash in all flavours with baked beans mixed in / tiny bits of corned beef / grated cheese on top
* melba toast or dutch crispbreads topped with: peanut butter, cheese spread, pate, beef paste, humous or anything from above!! (I LIVE on Dutch Crispbreads - they just crumble so are great!!)
* thinly sliced turkey or ham or other luncheon meats
* slices of low fat cheese
* well cooked pasta

Just some ideas for various stages

i got fed up with slim fast and water and teas after a week i started on baby rusks with a little water or milk warmed up and weatabix or porridge its stops the hunger and is runny enough to eat, other that that it is soup and yoghurts stuff like that but soon after the 3/4 week i had mash and veg mashed together with a little gravy yum yum hope this helps
