We asked about an internet cafe but although the staff knew there was one somewhere, they couldn't say where it was. We couldn't be bothered to go seek. However, I don't think there were many such cafes as we come across any on our walk around the town etc. Lucky hubby had a good book to read!
Have done a quick search and perhaps this will help:

Hi LETIZIA,
I believe you sent me email too - but I got distracted and forgot to reply back.
Don't worry!
Everything will go well! I live in The Netherlands (though I'm American) and I just paid for the RNY part and the extra insurance and took care of my own transportation etc.
I went through Amanda Perr.... as well. She was great!
I took the train both ways BUT I should have gotten a friend to drive me back ... because all that movement was too much for me. (opened up one of my incisions)
I stayed at the best hotel (they say) in Brugge - Address :
Hotel De Orangerie
Karthuizerinnenstraat 10
B-8000 Brugge – Bruges
at 250 per night BUT if you reserve a room as one of Dr. Dilliman's patients you only pay 150 per night.
Anyway, as the others say .. they willl be a group of you all going in at the same time. We hit it off right away, laughing about our big fat butts! Hee hee!
That was SUCH an awesome and FUN time! I can't tell you!!!
I had a very nice recovery - no complications and though I'm not yet at my goal weight - I LOOK strikingly good! I have no loose skin and I work out a lot so I have great muscle tone, and with the sit ups I've strengthened my 'core' so I have great posture and a strong back etc.
I'm a slow loser ...( only 70 pounds since late January but I was a kindof lightweight to begin with) so it looks like I just went on a good diet and worked out a lot. Therefore noooooo one at work (except a couple of close buddies) knows about my wls and no would even guess!
I think this is a blessing reallly because I'm able to work on my body.
Dr. Dilliman had performed over 7000 wls when I was there so he's probably hit 8,000 by now!
You are in good hands!
Anyway.... the whole thing was a LIFE ALTERING EXPERIENCE for me!!! I could tell you a lot!!!
ALL THE BEST TO YOU!!!!!

Hi all, Amanda was my contact too! She let me down after the hospital with the taxi company as they wanted to save time and drop me eight hours before my flight as they were busy. i called amanda to see if she could explain that i was sore etc and she basically said tough or pay for a private taxi!! so as id paid and lets face it 10k is not pocket change etc i had to take the taxi and ended up sitting in pain in the airport!! to me she could have done more after all the taxi were booked through her company!! when your just offer a major op and a grumpy taxi man is shouting at you, you need someone to fight on your behalf i though amanda would to that.. She has never in the 6months ever called to see how i am some suppose i didnt pay for after care!!!
I organised my own hotel, it was nice however no other ryn patients were there, maybe the hotel linked to the hospital would have offered more advise!!! jo jo any questions at any stage you have my number so just call or text!! As for hubby, Brugge is pretty and friendly you can basically spend all day in the hospital and the pubs can be your entertainment at night!! i had my sister with me she was super, the girl next to me had the same op and her husband and my sis became pals.. so you wont be alone!!!
its so close now, scary, exciting and scary

Let's meet in Cyberspace!
Whoo Hoo!!!!
Thanks to John Callery we've got our own little space under the new Local Support Group Section and I thought we could use this to help each other along, in a kind of virtual Support Group, about matters that we choose.
I've started a few threads (Protein and Vitamins) and have also aksed John to move a couple of our threads (this one for instance) to that Section so that we can keep track of each other.
Come on girls (and boys) let's meet in cyberspace

I have a place provisionally booked for 5th December. Look around this website http://www.direct-healthcare.com/st-jans.htm. Hope to see you there then!
Keep me informed about the path you are taking. I prefer direct healthcare to european obesity. All the best!

Hi am trying to get my surgery done by Dr. Dillemans as I have researched on the net and he seems to be the best. Does anyone have any comments about this as I would love some feedback.
I am 51 with a BMI about the same, and very nervous about the whole thing. Can you tell me what the pain is like when you come around and whether or not you ever get cravings for food now. I don't eat because I'm hungry I eat because I am addicted to food and I don't want to find I have a stomach the size of a 10p piece and still crave all the same foods I love now. How ill did u feel on the journey home? I can't get about very well now so am very concerned about the return journey. My e mail is roxy.k@hotmail.co.uk if you would care to e mail me. And well done on your courage and weight loss so far! Roxanne

Hi Roxy,
Welcome to the forum.
You will find loads of good info and support/advice on here. My sister and I just recently had RNY surgery in Bruges with Dr Dillemans. I can't recommend him highly enough, he is a wonderful person and a very skilled surgeon. Have a good look through the threads here, Gwen and Vims threads/posts were particularly helpful to myself and Kelly and have detailed info about surgery, hotel etc in Bruges.
Regards
Kirstyxx
