The Lord was really merciful to me this morning.

All my adult life I was fighting my apetite.

The Bible calls it gluttony.

What ever I did, the stomack allways won.

I even joined Over-eaters anonymous.

The margin of my Bible is my vitness, how many times I promised

the Lord, that I will control my "sin".

But the result was always the shame, and guilt.

Now with my upcoming WLS I acquired an other spiritual problem

I thought to myself, how  are you  going stand in front of the Lord

after you have mutilated your body instead of getting controll over your apetite.

But this morning as I was listening to a "homily" on EWTN, (I am not catholic, but

I get my spiritual food where I can, so I listen to the Mass every morning)

In the middle of his sermon, he mentioned Matthew 5:29.

"If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you;

for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole

body to go into hell.

Great! I give up a part of my stomack, end of guttony.

I feel free.

I have nobody around me with whom I could share this kind of thoughts.

But tank God, I have my TT family.

God bless you all.

Hi Gabriella!  What a lovely name -- I named my daughter, Gabriella!

Praise God for giving you His Word to light your path!  Praise God for His steadfast love for us, that while we are sinners, He sent His son to take our sins away.  Praise God for His compassion to provide a means to sanctify us as we struggle to be transformed from sinful man to be more like Jesus everyday until we are perfected on the day of His return.

I pray you are comforted and encourage that WLS is part of God's plan for your life.

God Bless You on this journey!

~ Carol

Thank you for that persepctive Gabriella... I often wondered the same issue myself. How would God feel about me resecting 85% of my stomach to control my gluteny? Wouldnt he see both as sinful? I would either be sinning through gluteny or disrespecting his creation of my body as a temple of christ. This question has bothered me for quite sometime and I never really felt like I have recieved an answer even though I prayed and asked God for an answer. My surgery date is close to yours March 11th so time is nearing. I really appricate your post today I feel like the holy spirit lead me to it to give me the answer I had been praying for in Matthew 5:29. It's nice to know that not only do I have the support of my mother and husband but finally I have confirmation that God supports my decision as well.

This morning's mediation:

Choose between Life and Death!    Deut.30:15-16, 19

15 Today I offer you life and prosperity or death and destruction. 16 This is what I’m commanding you today: Love the Lord your God, follow his directions, and obey his commands, laws, and rules. Then you will live, your population will increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you’re about to enter and take possession of.

19 I call on heaven and earth as witnesses today that I have offered you life or death, blessings or curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants will live.

Next Monday is the day when I will enter the land of tinness and of health.

And I will do my very best to obey the "rules" with the help of God

This morning's meditation:

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good,

and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

On the "socialize" there is a Lady from Texas who is trying to

encourage people to learn during the "honeymoon period" to eat and

live a healthy life. Follow the rules given by their surgeons

so they would have a healthy body for the rest of their lives.

A very useful reading material.

Joyce Meyer was teaching on confidance in the Lord, the other day.

She used a sentence that helps me overcome my frustration abouth my slow progress.

" I am OK,   I am on my way!

I  am not where I would like to be,

but thank God I am not where I used to be."

Kind of takes the pressure off of me.

Hi Gabriella-

I just read the original post here, and I want to thank you so much for sharing this!!!  I have found that God always speaks to me when I least expect it, and this time He used you to do so.  I now feel as if I have His blessing to go forward with my plans to have WLS.  I have read this verse before, and never thought of it in this perspective until today.

Thank you again! And God bless you every day!

K-dog

You are so young, you have your whole life in front of you.

Take advantage of this opportunity. Be healthy!

Do you remember the story from the Old Testament, when God rescued his people

from Egypt. They wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, instead of a few days.

It was because they did not obey God. We also have to obey our surgeon's rules if

we want to get to our goal quickly, if not, we still have to wander around for a long time.

The shortest road that leads us to our goal is through obedience.

I am struggling with my slow weight loss, sometimes it feels as if it will take for ever

to get to my goal, but according to my surgeon, it is because I am old and my metabolism

has gotten to a halt.

But I do the best I can, I exercise 2 yours 4 times a week

and I try to eat a healthy diet. And the weight is coming off of me slowly but surly.

Please let me know how you are doing

I have a tread in the gastric bypass post up section "the rest of my life".

I wish you God's help and blessing daily on your journey.
