Should I even bother going into work the day before my surgery or would it be pointless to try to get any work done?

I am confused by the title and content difference... but I didn't go to work. I had too much to do at home to make sure everything was all set.

What I meant is ...

My surgery is 6/12. They will have me doing the bowel cleanse the day before the surgery. What I was wondering is since I'll be doing the bowel cleanse that day if there was any point in trying to go into work or if I would basically be stuck in the bathroom the entire day.

umm no I would NOT go to work lol My surgery is this Thursday and I have to drink an entire bottle of magnesium citrate, this stuff is serious and fast acting. What good would you be to your employer if you spent the day in the bathroom and staying hydrated? Probably not much, and if you wait and start the bowel prep to late it can still be active throughout the night or even when you go in for surgery which is why they say to take it in the morning. ( just my opinion)

Yes i had to drink the same thing and i couldnt eat only liquids and that gross drink. It works instantly and i couldnt even get the rest down because i started vomiting from the taste or maybe a reaction to it, the second i swallowed it. I had a pounding headache from not eating. i slept most of the day and just wanted to be at the hospital already to get that horrible feeling over with. I def wold not go to work.,

My doctor had me take it at 4 or 5 pm. It took about 30 minutes to go into action but when it worked BOY did it work!

Yeah, if you can take off work I'd say it was "better safe than sorry". My sister had to do one and it was quite... dramatic.

I had to drink my bottle of magnesium citrate anytime between 1-4 the night before. I bought the cherry flavor at Walmart for $.98 and downed it within a few minutes. I took it around 3 and by 5 I was stuck in the bathroom. So you technically could go in, but for half the day. Btw, the taste wasn't as bad as I expected. It was more of a sour cherry flavor...lol best of luck to you :0)

GROSS the thought of that drink is making me sick to my stomach! I fortunately only had to drink half the bottle! and take 1 Dulcolax. My family and I shared a stomach bug just 2 days ago, and I had not ate much of anything in the past two days. You are going to need FAST access to a bathroom!
