I have just 10 more kgs to loose (22 pounds) ... thats a great thing... however...
Most days I can get no more than 500 calaries (2100 kj) and 750 mls of water into me... I feel nausious all the time.... post op pain all gone. I am running risk of dehydration and saw my surgeon nearly 3 week ago for a check up. He wanted to see me in 2 weeks after that - and I did... had lost nearly 4kgs... but the nausea and food/fluid intake still not enough.
My blood tests have been declining - iron, B12.. all the important ones... he sent me home with anti-nausea pills and seeing me in a week.. even after I told him that I had passed out on the dinning room floor! Really not happy.... feel so sick.. the pills dont seem to be doing much...
I have 2x2 year olds in the house.. I work nearlly full time hours and am exhausted ALL of the time.
I said to the surgeon last week why didnt he just admit me to treat the dehydration..? He stated he wanted to treat the nausea first... and that it can be a complication of this type of surgery.
I am in Australia... not sure what to do... tired... and pretty much fed up really... I feel as though no-one is hearing how Im feeling... the weight loss is great... but y health is also important.
Things that I was tolerant ofeating a month ago - I can no longer eat withoout feeling uncomfortable and/or sick (eg shaved turkey, minced meat, wholegrain cracker) and it is a battle everyday... minute by minute to get enough into me.
I have started at the gym this week - just light weights and continue to do the walking.... I have been told not too much cardio becasue of the limited intake.
Any advice..? Wisdom...?
Anything please!
Thanks in advance.

I would say you need to get those calories upped! Has your dr given you suggestions to do that? I felt very poor until I managed to get my calories above 800. That was pretty hard at the 3 months, I dont think I hit that consistantly till the 5 month mark. Now if I am under 1000 calories I am really tired. I also need to keep my good carbs up or my blood glucoses drops way to low and causes nausea, dizziness and light headedness. I found myself drinking alot of calories in milk, smoothies and shakes for the first couple months. Not sure what kind of protein powders you have access to but that is a good way to add calories. Some drs say to avoid these because they want proteins and calories coming from food, but my feeling is that you do what you need to do when push comes to shove. Yogurt, cheese, eggs are all good sources of protein and calories as well. Is there anything you can tolorate?
I am hoping that your dr will respect your concerns and get on the ball to help you! If you dont geyresults keep calling and calling till they take you seriously. You can always heard to the ER as well if things get to bad. Has your dr. considered checking for a stricture (stoma being to tight) or an ulcer? Those are two frequent complications after WLS that cause nausea, vomiting and pain. Once you get this figured out and treated you will start feeling more like yourself!
Please keep us posted!

Shell

Thanks Shell.... The week after this first post I was admitted into hospital for rehydration and rest. My food intake has gotten a bit better after the 4 days I spent in there... however still struggling to get the calories in. I have been taking protiene powders to try and get the protiene and calories in - my nutristionist saying that I still need to try "normal" food.
thanks for the concern.. still losing slowly and still going to the gym at 5:30am for an hour - in the dark - trying to stay on top it all with my 2 small daughters and working! PHEW!
Will keep you posted.
