Change in Libido

63 posts in this topic

Hi....Just curious. Has anyone had a change in their libido after surgery? Whether it has increased, decreased, or stayed the same. I have personally had a change and was wondering if this is normal.

Huge increase! I attribute it to increased self-esteem. :)

I have had absolutely no libido since undergoing gastric bypass nearly 17 months ago. I just had my testosterone level checked, and it was incredibly low, along with an undetectable progesterone level. I have a major hormone imbalance going on, so it's understandable...yet incredibly frustrating, to say the least.

My husband and myself had the surgery and it has been almost 2 years now and ours has increased 100% we are now like 2 teenagers again and more in love than ever. I do believe the renewed self confidence has helped in us feeling more desirable to the other one and has made us feel young and alive again.

At first my libido increased drastically, then it bottomed out. I have no libido now, but mentally I am interested. Very difficult!

Mine is back to normal after disappearing for a year and a half when I was at my highest. I think it's the raised self esteem, the stronger body, the blood flow from exercise, and probably the hormone flood is contributing as well LOL Now I just need a man to take it out on!

edit: my "normal" is raging libido heh

I definitely need to check into this as well. Are they supplementing the hormones for you??

I'm like a compass pointing North lately. I've had a huge spike in my libido and getting embarrassing spontaneous erections like when I was a teenager. If it's like this now, I'll be a regular love machine by the time I hit goal. I don't know if it's that I feel more attractive or more confident or just more interested, but it's all working together to seriously increase my sex drive.

I'd been attributing it to spring fever, but this is definitely the springiest spring I've ever had!

For those dealing with a decreased libido, Maca Root is definitely something worth looking into.

I started taking it as a natural alternative to hormone replacement for severe menopausal night sweats. But in reading more about it, it's proven to help a lot of hormonal issues in both men and women:

Mine has been down, but it also may be contributed to the fact I only get 5-6 hours sleep a night due to work. I have been on Maca Root for at least 3 months now and haven't noticed much. I'm going to up my dosage from 1 to 2 a day to see if that helps.

Good Question,

I have no Libido right now and have not for several years, seems to have gotten worse as I gained weight  and wonder if it recovers after Gastric Bypass ,  Just dont have the Desire, have a Beautiful wife but just isnt  there . I do take an Anti Depressant also which may contribute , Any answers will help, I guess we all hope for changes after  Surgery , Energy , Self Esteem and a Healthier Life.

I thought mine increased a lot but it seems my wife who had no  surgery has increased more. maybe I am getting lucky becasue I do so much work around the house now that I am in better shape. Take a leason guys. at least twice a week, give your wife the remote to the TV and do laundry, do dishes, or take the kids away for a few hours :D

Mine is currently off the charts.  I was forcing myself to start, but now, my husband is begging me to just go to sleep.  lol.  xD

He called me an animal last night.
