I keep reading of all the wonderful losses in weight here on this site... and I am really discouraged.. what is wrong with me!!..? I lost 9kgs in 2 weeks pre-op!

Surgery was 15 days ago and I have only lost 6 kgs (apx 13 pounds). Limited diet and doing all the right things.. so I thought... am eating very little really.. I have an appointment with my NUT next week.. what do I do before then..?

Advice please..? Am almost in tears :(

You need to look at this logically. In 4 weeks you have lost 15kg (9pre, 6 post). Can you imagine being upset if you were told you lost 33 pounds in a month?

You are doing just fine, stick to your plan and give it time. Many people here would kill to lose 33 pounds in the 4 weeks surrounding their bypass.
266 last weigh in before surgery.
Goal weight before 6 month anniversary.

Follow the rules and follow your programs!

There is nothing wrong with that weight loss! That is actually pretty fantastic. Take it easy on yourself. It took us a long time to gain this weight, it wont fall off overnight. Enjoy the process and learn from it along the way. Keep it up!

I had surgery 17 days ago and I'm down 19 pounds... and I feel like it's not fast enough either. Other people who had surgery the day before or same day as me have dropped over 20! It's all gonna be ok though :) We are NOT going to be that one person surgery doesn't work for, ok? Also prepare yourself for hitting a stall soon. It's common. The weight WILL come off. It will come off at it's own pace. Keep following your surgeon's program and suddenly you're going to wake up and 50 pounds will be gone! Then 100! Hold tight and have faith. :)

Thanks again... and I will hold on!

You lost almost 20lb pre-op and that'll often effect our immediate post-op loss rate.

Also - if you're a lightweight (as I was), you're not likely to see the massive drops that some of our heavier members see (especially the guys).

Keep doing what you're doing babe and try and keep off the scale.

10/27/08 - Open - removal of omental mass, gallbladder, appendix, adhesions
11/12/10 - Open - bilateral femoral hernia repair

Are you measuring your body? Like neck, arms, wrists, chest, tummy, thigh, waist, calves? These things usually change on me when I'm not dropping lbs. I get to drop sizes then, which is much more appealing to me! I am a very slow loser. I think I only lost 10lbs for like 6-8 weeks post op. But I'm more slow and steady. You are not alone. I completely understand the frustration, but as long as you follow the rules everything will pan out.

It really is a slow and steady race for most of us so don't despair! The thought of losing 13 pounds in 2 weeks now would make me giddy! These days I dance if I lose 5 pounds in 2 weeks.

I keep trying to remember this myself because I have not lost anything except 5 pounds then gained it back then lost it again in about a month. Just when I think my stall is over I gain those 5 back. I feel your pain but I am hoping by losing slowly it will help with having little to no extra skin and it will stay off longer.

I know from experience that this will be very hard to hear but try to enjoy a slow, steady weight loss. The reason being, your body will have more time to adjust and you won't have to deal with the wrinkly skin, etc. as much as fast losers. Think of this as the rest of your life. Yes, you are trying to get to a goal but that doesn't mean this journey will end at that point, it just means you will be moving on to new goals. Try not to compare yourself with others, follow your surgeon's plan and enjoy this gift you've been given!
Highest/Surgery/Current/Goal
302/259/171/160

This section was filled with goals I hit that I'm very proud of but I've decided to remove it and tell other WLS'rs that it's ok to change your goals along the way. My original weight loss goal was 140 but I've changed it to 160. I think I will be more comfortable at that weight and that is what my doc wants me to be at.

My point is, don't be afraid to change your goals. We are all a work in progress! Listen to your body.

Final goal: 5/2/12 - 1 yr surgiversary - 160. I'm going to buy myself a stupidly expensive pair of Frye boots. :)
