Today was a good day.  I only weigh myself on Friday's and as of today I am officially 101lbs down and less than 4 1/2 months out from surgery.  I have another 80 to be to goal but I am working my booty off trying to do it. I have started zumba classes 3 times a week and walking more.  And today at my job a co-worker whom I don't see that often asked me if I lost weight.  I said yes and thank you (my usual response) and he said I looked beautiful.  I haven't been called beautiful in years.  If he weren't gay, I may have jumped him. lol.

I have been struggling a little with the mental change that comes with this surgery.  Kinda like a bit of an identity crisis.  So to have a day like today was a nice boost. :)

WOW! That is really great. Congratulations on your amazing success.

I would love to lose anything close to that at the 41/2 month mark. I have been struggling with losing the past couple of weeks. If you wouldn't mind, it would be really helpful if you could share how many calories, grams of fat, carbs you would have on average. Also, were you doing a specific exercise regimen during the past couple of months? I hope this is not being too nosy but your success is an inspiration and I have been in somewhat of a panic thinking I am not taking full advantage of the active weight loss period.

I am definitely dealing with the identity crisis myself. I've always been the "fat" girl my entire life. Although I'm still fat I am hearing the words "thin" "thinner" "skinny" and they are being referred to me and it makes my mind go wild. Also I see the version of me 219 pounds heavier in the mirror still. It is only in pictures that I see the physical difference of the weight loss. It will take time to adapt. I'm seeing a therapist to help me with these issues. If you aren't already, I would suggest you maybe consider it.

Great job on your journey so far!
Starting BMI: 76.4
Pre-op: 77 pounds gone
Post-op: 173 pounds gone (surgery 6/14/11)

Total: 250 pounds gone forever!
11/17/11 - OMG! I am in the 300's from the 500's

Thank you, I was actually thinking about seeing a therapist.  I am having a hard time with it mentally which is so wierd cause I was so confident and happy before the surgery.  For me the surgery was done to help me physically, I was having bad back and joint problems.  It sometimes seems like I was happier back then.  Sorry to keep going on.  I am just trying to figure it all out.

As for what I do: I stick to what my Dr. told me.  I avoid carbs except for fruit and veggies.  I am dying for a piece of toast. Yes, a piece of toast but then I think about how far I have come and I don't want the toast as much anymore.  Every once and a while I have a little rice but my Dr. said it was ok with what I was eating cause she really wants me to have a complete meal.  As for calories, I keep track but not as good as I should.  My Dr. told me I am not getting enough calories so I am working on that right now but doing it the healthy way.  I focus on protein because my Dr. doesn't want me drinking protein drinks (he says they aren't worth the calories for the amount of protein I absorb).  Right now eating is tough.  I still don't have a desire to eat.  I am not hungry and could go the whole day without eating and be perfectly happy BUT I do it anyways.  I eat three meals a day and I still keep it to 1/3 of a cup (sometimes a little more depending on what it is).  Meat fills me up fast but salad I could keep eating for days :)

As for exercise, my job requires a lot of walking for me.  So I walk a lot with work.  I wasn't cleared for hard excercise until the 3 month mark.  So before then I would use some little weights at night while watching tv.  I would go on a walk again after work.  After 3 months, I have started zumba.  I only do it 3 times a week because of the calorie situation.  But man it is a work out.  I come out sweating and not looking so cute :)

I realize this isn't much help cause I can't give you specifics but my only real advice is follow what your Dr. says.  I follow what she says 99% of the time.  I want to take advantage of this weight loss window and I don't want to go back to my old way of life.
