Soni went to the surgeon today and was given the option of getting the Flobi band. He seemed to be a fan of it but didn't try to sway me one way or the other.

Was anyone here banded?  What do you think about it?  I can't really google it too much right now because one of my kids broke my laptop while I was at work and I am on my iPod. My eyes are far too old to do any research on this thing.

So for now I will stick with tt folks and their experience and opinions...at least until o figure out what's wrong with my computer.

Thanks again!

I don't really know much about it.  I have seen a couple people on another WLS forum post about problems with it.  Apparently the band can become imbedded in the stomach tissue and cause problems.  I don't know how common that is, though.  I would also be concerned about having a foreign body in me.  I would imagine the body could reject it, just like it could reject the lap band.

Will your insurance cover it?

My insurance was pretty limited and strict about what Bariatric Surgery it would and wouldn't cover.

Yes, because basically it is a bonus...it is still an RNY.  I have already paid for my surgery (my share of it ---$4000.)

If the patient wants it, he does it.  If they dont, he doesnt.  If they dont tell him either way, he doesnt.
