Hello everyone,
I just got a hint from my surgeon about a digital water bottle. Check this out at...
HydraCoach Intelligent Water Bottle - First Looks by Digital Trends 2009 09/18
I think this would be great to make sure we remember to sip all day. Any thoughts?

Yep I have seen them. One of the companies I provide support for sells them. Kind of a neat idea. I just have a reusable bottle that has marks on it. It's 20oz and I fill it 5 times a day to make sure I am drinking enough. I also put ice water in a travelers coffee cup by my nightstand so that if I am thristy in the middle of the night I have something to sip on.

Interesting. But I'm not paying $30 for a water bottle. I mostly drink out of glasses that hold about 12 ounces. I used to keep track on paper. Now I mostly just keep track in my head.

You and me both!
I have a Brita water filter (even though I have well water) and use their Nalgene 32oz bottle. It's clearly marked in 2oz's and it was FREE with my Brita filter.
Having a bottle of water close by at all times is all the reminder I needed and it doesn't take long before it becomes second nature to have a drink at frequent intervals.

This is so true. Even if I am just running to the store, I take my bottle with water or Crystal Light in it with me. The only time I don't have something to drink in my hand is the still soooo hard to get used to for me period 15 minutes before and 30 minutes after I eat times.

I agree, $30 for a water bottle is way too much. I suppose I worry because drinking all of my water is so tough, and I am only "in training" right now.

anne if you think it will work then go for it. I would look it up, maybe google it and you could find it cheaper somewhere else? What may not be worth it for me, might be just what you need for you... like weighing food, not my thing but works for so many others.
I know I tend to forget to drink sometimes and find myself getting dehydrated. ITS NOT A GOOD THING! Even now in the hospital though i'm getting the fluid through IV, I have little 8oz sippy cups of watered-down v8 fusion mom brought me and I keep track of how many i've had.

Anne, if you feel the cup would help you, then for sure, buy the cup. I didn't mean to suggest you would be wasting you're money. I just meant that I can't see myself shelling out that much money for a cup. But I'm poor. And I seem to do OK getting my fluids in without it. But I spend a ridiculous amount of money on vitamins because I don't like the chewables, so I buy this liquid stuff and the B12 patch, which is way more expensive than if I just chewed the things, so it's really just a matter of what works for each of us, you know?

If you think it will help you by all means go for it. But, check with your doc about the straw thing. I was told NO straws for at least 6 months due to the fact that they put air into your pouch.

I did a quick google search under 'shopping' and found several sites, such as this one Sportline Sp3906Sk Hydracoach Interactive Water Bottle selling it for $15.99 ... thats not as bad if this makes you more comfortable with keeping up with your water intake..

You all have been very helpful! Thanks, Momof2 for finding that cheap link. That makes it much more appealing... I have bought Nalgene for about that amount before. Water is one thing I am concerned about because I have had such a hard time remembering to drink... I have a bottle right in front of my eyes at work and, yeah... I still don't drink until I start to feel thirsty. it is said that once you reach the point that you are thirsty, you are already starting the dehydration process.
Jersey, thanks for your encouragement!
