I am being treated mean about my Gastric bypass needs people do not understand that I cannot eat and drink at the same time and I need to be able to drink when I feel thirsty.

Hi Channing!  Not being able to drink while you eat is one of the challenges for me - and people don't understand it for sure.  I followed some advice here and always order an ice water with lemon in it while out in a restaurant.  Otherwise people may look at you funny.  Just remember you are in charge, this is your body and you control what goes into it and when.

My hubby still forgets at times.  I do order an ice water if we go out and hubby usually gets it.  I just set it aside when it comes.  If we linger after a meal then I glance at the time when I'm finished eating and I may actually get a sip in 30 minutes..

people do forget but that no drinking for 30 minutes is a golden rule...

I always have a few grapes, pieces of watermelon, a satsuma, chunks of pineapple, celery or cherry tomatoes etc.  available to finish my meal off if I'm thirsty.
