Hi, I had my GVS in Mexico (Dr. Kelly ) 2013. I went from 236 lbs to 130lbs within the year. I loved every minute of it. I loved how I felt and looked, until the fateful day in the airport. I made the mistake of not preparing for my flight home after one on many business trips I did on a weekly basis. I always carried a per boxed protein shake for the just in case flights.  Well not that day, I broke……. I bought my first chocolate bar in a year.  It literally made me sick, and I swore I would never eat another………. Until the next day!!!!!   When I told myself that I deserved another bar, kind of like a reward for losing   so much wait.  Well that one bar put me back to 209lbs and I am back to feeling ashamed of myself.    This is how easy it can be, I wish someone had told me it would be the same as a drug addict in a sense.     You just can’t have just a small bite or at least I can’t.

I am now spending my days’ research Surgeons to a bypass.  Is it true that it is near impossible to revise a sleeve?

Has anyone had a sleeve done then a bypass? If so please share your story and Surgeons name and if you would recommend them?

Ugh. So sorry about the regain. Your sleeve is still inside you and still works if you work it. Search the 5-day pouch test here or just on the internet & give it a try to get you started. Sleeves can totally be revised to bypass, but my surgeon won't do them just because someone has regained weight. He'll only do it if someone is having a complication like acid reflux. Having an additional surgery doesn't solve our desires to eat too much or the wrong things. We all just have to put in tons of time and work and possibly therapy to overcome that. Don't lose heart. You've been so successful before. You can do it again.

blinkandgone,

There is no guarantee that a revision to a RNY will prevent you from eating chocolate or even overeating.

I'm with Gretta on trying the 5-Day Pouch Test.  Your sleeve will still work for you - it just needs to be shown who's running the show and the 5DPT could give you the help you need.

While my surgeon does do revisions he also only does them for medical necessity. Regain doesn't cut it with him, as regain on its own is a head issue rather than an anatomical irregularity. Unless as patient is in a medical emergency, I've been told by others seeking revisions, that he also will not do them within 5 years of the most recent WLS intervention, eg until 5 years has passed since a lapband removal.

I'm with @Gretta and @cinwa regarding trying the 5 day pouch test. As it sounds like your real issue is head related, seeing a therapist that specialises in weight related issues may well be a good starting strategy.
