Waste of protein powder?

4 posts in this topic

I've been adding unflavoured protein powder to my breakfast eggs (2) and to my cup of yogurt. When I mentioned this to a friend, he said it wasn't a good idea because the body can only absorb so much protein at a time. True? So should I stop adding the powder?

It's not a waste. With the amounts you're able to eat, it's unlikely you'd ever ingest more protein at a meal than you can absorb. Some say you can only absorb 30 grams per meal, others say there's no limit.

30 grams is the limit that your body can use at one time. Anything above that is wasted.

Thanks, both of you. Even with the powder, protein amounts do not exceed 30gms. So not a waste. Good to know.
