One sick person

Recommended Posts

I have been sick today makes 3weeks. I have been to urgent care 2xs ER1x and my gastric dr. One time through all the blood work, CT scans, ultrasonics, they find nothing.

It came on me in the middle of the night, cramps diarrhea, sweating, chills, can't eat, extremely nausea but not throwing up. This has been the worse I have been sick in years. The cramps are close to labor pain and the diarrhea does not stop. All the dr. Can tell me is to drink, don't worry so much about eating, well I have lost 12lbs.

The best they have came up with is s gastric flu, the gas is unbearable almost makes you pass out. But THANK GOD  I am some better.

It is wield how it came out of no where. But this puts me at ,134lbs. I really don't want to lose anymore weight, I just look so old!!!! My arms and thighs hang down bad I am a shame to wear shorts. I am very proud of all the weight I have lost but I really didn't think I would be so wrinkled and old looking. Guess you can't have it all!!!!

Has anyone else been sick like this??

@Minfit, go see an internist and get a diagnostic workup.  Doesn't sound related to your surgery in any way. This could be as simple as giardiasis (gas, weight loss, diarrhea). Google it, you'll see what I mean.

The fact you  had surgery 9 months ago does not mean this is related to the surgery. Indeed the fact that you had the onset 8+ months after the surgery and your tests (looking for a surgical complication) are negative makes it even more unlikely to be related to the surgery. People with WLS get the same things the rest of the populations gets unrelated to WLS. Urgent care clinics only look for urgent causes that will kill you. Surgeons only look for surgical complications. You need someone to evaluate you for what gives you nausea, diarrhea, cramps, etc that lasts 3 weeks. Not too many things do that, and nearly none are related to your surgery.

So sorry this is happening! Do you still have your gallbladder?

This sounds awful, @Minfit. I hope you can get a diagnosis soon (or else mysteriously get better). I think don't worry about your weight right now - you've got other issues that take priority! Get better!

I am sorry that you are not feeling well, and I hope that you get both relief and answers soon. In the meantime be sure to drink enough liquids.

We are here to support you.

I've had a few bouts of stomach flu (or whatever) but they have never lasted more that 2-3 days.

I'm with BurgundyBoy on seeing a specialist and I'd do it sooner - don't let it drag on Minfit.

Hmm. I still suspect that might be the problem (keep in mind I have zero medical experience). I wonder if you could see a specialist about it. You have to be miserable. I'm so sorry.
