Checking in as I wait out the weeks

5 posts in this topic

Hello everyone! I've been busy with classes again and been reading posts but not posting anything myself. I'm still in transition waiting until the beginning of April to have my next set of blood tests to see if my iron and D3 levels will be satisfactory. I've gained then lost some weight and now am back down to where I was at Christmas (197). I've fallen off the wagon of protein and climbed back on. Gone back and forth on if I should or shouldn't go through with the surgery. Reading the posts on here have helped me through many of the doubts. I'm hopeful that I will get a date by the beginning of April. I'll post when I know more!

Got some unhappy news that may delay my surgery more. I have two cysts on one of my ovaries and some growths in my uterus that are contributing to my anemia. Frustrating and scary development. Now it's waiting for a referral to a specialist and getting their input into this situation.

I am very sorry for the delay.  Hang in there.

Your experience is not unusual. The very comprehensive health testing that most people get before weight loss surgery often picks up previously unknown medical problems. The good news is that now these problems can be addressed rather than allowed to get worse.

That is so true! I had no idea that this condition is also a contributor to my insulin resistance. I feel like a puzzle being put together and we keep finding missing pieces.

I'm so sorry to hear this! Res Ipsa is right about the testing. They do such in depth testing for many reasons. I was supposed to have my WLS last March, but during my pre op testing I was found to have thyroid cancer. Two surgeries and radioactive iodine later, I'm back at it. I could have had my WLS last year after I was treated, but opted to wait until now to start again because my body was just too tired to do it last year. You want to be in the best health you possibly can before your WLS, so finding other health problems now, and taking care of them, will help you to do that! Trust me when I say I know how frustrating the delays can be. I hope they get you feeling better soon, and I'll be praying for you!
