Does anyone have any advice going into this final stretch?  I must say that until now I have not really been diligent about my eating.... except that I have not been "dieting" and I also have not been binge eating... once I took the stress of being on a "diet" away I somewhat normalized.... that said, I have been tracking... and trying to get in more water... make better choices... (Just not 100%)  That is the part that worries me the most... so many people seem to have lost quite a bit before their surgery... and I have only lost a few pounds... mostly stayed the same...  but once they said I was scheduled... well, yesterday was like an entirely different day for me... I drank my water... ate protein first, made better choices, etc... I just don't want to be one of those that has the surgery and then messes it up and doesn't lose.  Does that make sense?  Did any of you have that same fear?  Thanks in advance.

Hi superMom69

My sister had surgery in Dec.  There was no preoperative diet to follow.  Turns out her surgeon is a liver specialist and was not concerned about liver shrinkage.  So there was no preoperative weight loss.  She is doing fine and has lost over 20+ lbs. I had a bypass, did a very strict preoperative diet and didn't lose that much.  Most has come off post op with the aid of exercise and a strict diet. Everyone is different and everyone worries about the same thing as you.  There will always be help if you ever need it.  So good luck!

And to answer your questions, I was only on a pre op diet for about 10 days. I slipped up, I won't lie. I was so afraid if i couldn't even get the pre-op diet right, how am i going to get the post op part right? am i going to blow it? That was a big worry for me, and it still is.  Personally I think it's good to be a little worried.  It means you're taking this seriously and you understand that this isn't a magic cure. You have to do your part, the surgery doesn't fix everything.  Surgery helps you, but doesn't do all the work for you. Knowing that scares me and keeps me on track.  Hang in there, and follow the plan post op.  Good luck!!
