Calcium tablet or chewable?

Recommended Posts

Quick question!

After having VSG are you allowed to take calcium in tablet form? Or does it absolutely HAVE to be a chewable form?

my surgeon told me that I could go to tablets, cheaper cost. he told me that some people couldn't do the

large tablets, I have no trouble.

My program recommended chewable after surgery due to the limited space as the sleeve heals.  In the end it will come down to what you can tolerate.

You can get calcium citrate in a liquid and powder form until your programme clears you for pill form.  The following links are for Amazon.  UpCal D powder isn't available in stores but the liquid is.  Just be sure to check the ingredient is calcium citrate.

Also, it's possible to crush calcium citrate tablets (they're pretty hard).  You can then dump the powder into a spoon or two of yogurt etc.
