Food porn (this is not a dirty thing!)

11 posts in this topic

Since getting sleeved I have been obsessed with watching food network shows. It was the worst during the first month when I was still healing and binge watching tv. My husband calls it food porn! :D He was afraid it would trigger wanting to eat bad, but it helped me and my head hunger. I would watch other people get full or feel happy eating it and that would satisfy me. What can I say, I'm a weird one! When I crave sweets I watch cupcake wars or some kind of baking championship. I get up and drink a protein shake or have yogurt and then my craving is gone! When I want greasy fried food (or my head tells me I do) I watch like Man Vs. Food and watch that silly man stuff himself full of gross food.

Maybe this will help some that still struggle with head hunger!

Ahhh.... I'm not the only one!  LOL.  Try Unique Sweets....

I'm not sure it's the best solution but it has worked for me too especially since I think... "hmmmm if I AM going to eat something, it better be as fantastic as what I just saw so that Chips Ahoy cookie just won't cut it for me now."

I also collect recipes - lots of them - since my weight loss surgery.  I was trained as a chef and reading recipes makes me not miss food.  Crazy, but effective.

My sister has my mother's cookbook and it was loaded with newspaper clipping recipes, even though my mother was not at all adventurous about cooking -- meat and potatoes was about it!

Yes, I've posted about this before. When I had my surgery 2.5 yrs ago, Yahoo had an awesome food website. I was obsessed!!  They closed it down and I went into a funk. Hi, my name is Claudia and I'm addicted to food porn.

Claudia-I remember that thread. I too, said that I love watching all the food shows. Food Network, Hells Kitchen, Master Chef, Top Chef and I love the new baking shows on PBS~ the great British baking something or other!

Lois-I love reading through recipes on Pinterest too! And I've actually made quite of few of the ones I've pinned. If I don't like it, I unpin it!

I have a Pinterest "tried" board if we don't like it I put it there so I don't make again.  Made bars and orangecicle salad for grandkids yesterday...

i have a pintrest beef stew on and am making Steve a strawberry quick bread for the week.  Steve says "we try all these new recipes and I never get something I like again!"  As I tell my daughter "so many recipes: so little time!"

You're not old enough to heave grandkids.  ;)

I have two and they live with me and their parents -- I love watching them grow up. My own 4 daughters grew up way too quickly. I love the revisitation.

Tom, grandkids are what makes surviving 5 teenagers in the same house at the same time worth it;). We have 3 grandkids (5,4, and 3). The 5 yo lived with us for 14 months when his mom and dad moved back to the states.  They just moved out the first of the month.  His mom (our oldest daughter) lived in France 8 years; met her Mexican hubby there and Noah was born there.  Then they lived in China 2 years before moving home.

These are the 2 monkeys I had today..it was because of her that I decided to have wls.  If I hadn't I wouldn't have seen her grow up.  I found out my daughter was expecting him the night of my surgery..
