WendyH Before & After

One year ago today I had my vertical sleeve gastrectomy, and life is great. You guys have seen tons of pictures of me as I was losing weight and now that I've lost the weight, but I don't recall posting a before photo. Here it is. I was probably about 20# below my top weight in the photo on the left, and the one on the right was taken just a few minutes ago.

Yes, I'm about 43% of the person on the left. It's staggering that I've lost more than I have left.

Wendy, you were beatiful then and you're beautiful now. I spoke to my surgeon's office yesterday to schedule my 3+ year blood tests. I thanked the staff profusely for all of their help and their part in getting where I am. They were truly appreciative for my thanks and it was quite obvious. I suspect that much of what they see and hear are from people who don't follow the plan. The reality is that I couldn't have done it on my own.

Appt. is scheduled for July 29, full report to follow after I receive the test results. I still have to schedule psychologist and dietician spots. after the tests are complete. I like the psychologist quite a bit, and the feeling is mutual. He is the first person who ever thanked me for being a US Navy vet, the first almost 50 years after the fact. I didn't think I wanted or needed thanks, and I was quite unprepared for the wet eyes that followed. It was a very different time then when we were subjected to epithets like "baby killer" when wearing the uniform in public. Also, I spent 2.5 years at Great Lakes NTC in your backyard attending Electronic Tecnician "A" school, 40 hours a week. I've made my living from it since then. I never attended college, although I suspect my education was essentially the equivalent, and I'm a lifelong learner anyway.

That is an outstanding transformation Wendy.  If your stats are current, you have lost an amazing 187lb!

And you are well below your goal of 160lb.  That is amazing.

Now that my weight has stabilized, I've been updating every two weeks. After an indulgent holiday weekend, my weight is up some but coming down.

I just did an "off-schedule" update of my stats and tickers to this morning's weight (bloated). My stats now also include the weight I lost before I saw the doctor.

Net loss, including today's bloat = 192. Usually is more like 197.

I am so impressed. You once commented to me that I am now at your start weight, and seeing how well you have done is really motivating to see what I can do in the next year. Thank you for the support and encouragement to stay on track. Wonderful job!
