looking for: old wool sweaters
If anyone has any old wool sweaters they aren't using anymore, I'd be interested in taking them off your hands. Because of what I would do with them, they don't need to be in perfect condition, not even wearable condition to be honest, though it'd be nice if they weren't massively torn or anything. They would also need to be 80% or more wool to be useful.
Anyway- I figured it can't hurt to ask, right? So, let me know if you have any you wouldn't mind getting rid of
Thanks!

Check with your local Salvation Army and Goodwill (and others like them) and get the word out what you are looking for.
I 'scrounge' for silk blouses/dresses in less than perfect condition because I use the silk in fabric art and a couple of local places are really nice about putting aside blouses/dresses that would otherwise be trashed because they might have a tear or missing buttons, etc.

Thanks.. the closest of either of those is more than an hour away and has odd hours.
But I do look there as well when I get a chance to go.
I just figured if people had any that were in a condition that would not be good for passing on to others for wearing they might consider me Better than in the trash!! Recycle Reuse!

Do you have any color preferences?
I'll ask around and keep my eyes peeled....
I'm a BIG believer in recycling, re-using and re-purposing...especially 'natural' products like wool (and in my case, silk).

Well, I love purple, but really wool is more often in the natural colors, so no, I don't really discriminate.. lighter wools can be dyed ... even with koolaid! LOL.. But any color will work.. the colors and textures can sort of determine the final item, you know?
I'd love to see your silk art!

Hi Kel. Look on Yahoo Groups and find your local/regional Freecycle group. That would probably be a good resource for finding stuff like this.
You're so crafty! As for me, I don't have a creative bone in my body, lol.

Freecycle is awesome. I've been going through a bunch of "crap" in my house, and giving away some stuff on there. For convenience sake, other "crap" is just being boxed up for the Goodwill store. I was fortunate to be offered a few pregnancy/baby name books a few weeks ago. When I got there to pick them up, the lady commented that she had a bunch of maternity clothes that should fit me, and gave me 2 huge trash bags full of really nice stuff. Gotta love the whole "reduce, reuse, and recycle" thing.
