But I feel I look pretty good for an "old woman".
What do you do about your PMS cravings? Alternatives? Since I no longer have periods, PMS is not an issue. The only alternative (and so highly NOT recommended) is to have a hysterectomy. Just kidding!!
Has anyone found the perfect sippy cup for the constant drinking post op? I just bought the kids sippy cups but did NOT sip using the lids. I was afraid of getting too much air in my pouch.
I saw in the thread "What I wish I knew before WLS" that someone said they wish they'd known not to invest so much money in protein drinks. What's the alternative? Find one, maybe two proteins that you like and see how your tastes MAY change after surgery. I liked the Isopure fruity flavors the first 3 days post-op and couldn't gag them down after that. Everyone is different! What's your favorite protein drink? My favorite drink early post op was the Dutch Chocolate Isopure from GNC...now I buy the creamy vanilla flavored Premiem Prorated brand from Costco add some sugar-free caramel flavoring with ice and blend away...oh, so good!

I so appreciate your post. I'm really starting to get the idea that I'm gonna change in ways I can't imagine. Thank you so much. I had asked my hubby for protein drinks for Christmas (if I get my approval) . . . but now I'm rethinking that.

One thing I can tell you it definetly makes a diference in how you look and what is more important how you FEEL!!
Try lots of new sports, go for a dance class ... HAVE FUN!

I can't wait to "Have Fun" and not always be so tired. I've YoYo dieted my whole adult life. I can't say I've always been overweight... but I've always thought I was. I had low self esteem and looking back I didn't look too bad back then. But now the scale and the mirror agree. . . it's time to do something serious!

I also think age is a factor.
I have started exercising more, drinking protein shakes and trying to change my "mindset" about food. I figure since I will have to do it a few months, it can't hurt to start now!
I also agree with the previous poster, exercise will make you feel better, no matter where you are in this process.

OK... I need the youtube link!! Please! :begging:
Oh and if I lived in Germany again (I spent three years there in the 80's) I'd never be able to lose weight. They've got the best food in the world. So I wish you the very best of luck!!

I live in Europe and they are much less freaked about the protein shakes. I'm almost 7 months from surgery and have lost 96 lbs and my labs are great - so far. I walk every day at least 30 mins and feel and look great and healthy. Need to add weights though. Water is the most important thing you can do for yourself - get lots at least 1.5-2 litres a day. I'm 45 and still get pms -- when the chocolate cravings are bad I go for the no sugar chocolate pudding. Mostly I find that if I'm hydrated and taking my vitamins I feel well. I hate that I 'stall' for two weeks every month, but just stay on track and it comes off the other two :-) Hydration is key.
Hang in there and Good luck!

Well I've never had PMS craving, but if they are like regular cravings, you may find that what you crave changes post-op.
I do not see the big advantage of using a sippy cup unless you are planning to use it forever. Might as well learn to sip from a regular cup IMO (as I sit here drinking from a coffee cup with the sippy lid... )

I thought of the "sippy cup" just because of the "constant sipping" and hoping it would help me to have one measured so I could make sure that I stay on track and don't go over or under the necessary amount of liquids.

The rest is pretty good, and I'm chalking it up to good genes, good health, and only being significantly overweight for 10 years.

LMAO!!! You look great too!
