WOW! You look GREAT!!!
It's really sad that the ONLY way you can get a lot of dental work done now (even if you have dental insurance-which is a JOKE) is to go outside the country!

When I first got home I was reluctant to smile because I thought I looked like the Cheshire cat in "Alice in Wonderland." But I'm getting used to them and flash them all the time now!
All the uppers are implants - all 14 of them. (individually) I floss them like real teeth.
The bottoms are one long continuous, bolted-in, permanent fixed bridge, bolted to 5 implants. I can floss underneath them, between each implant. I can chew on either side and everthing!
Now, the downside, I have a speech impediment. Obviously the top teeth are thicker than real teeth, to go around the implants. My tongue doesn't know where to go, so I lisp now. I have talked to lots of people with top implants and we all sound the same! I am thinking about going to a speech therapist because I do so much public speaking.
The other downside is that I spend too much time looking in mirrors!
Total cost: $21,000 to the dentist
airfare $400.00 x 2
room and board $75 a day (includes everything: nursing care, transportation to the doctor, meals, snacks, water, etc.)
All this in the setting of the rain forrest, by the pool, lots of tropical plants, birds, etc.
It crams about a year's-worth of dental work into two weeks, but in a tropical setting, so you can stand it.
Pain: The first trip was a shock! I'm glad I had DH with me. The pain was bad and if you remember the pictures, I was so swollen and black that I looked like a monkey! Pain, pain, pain. But also good drugs!
Love you all. Thanks for the replies. I wasn't expecting it.

I have a genetic condition where the roots of my teeth go way-WAY up into my sinuses and every time I'd get a sinus infection, it would get into my teeth and my ears...it got to the point where I was told either I get all but my front two upper teeth pulled or I risk losing my hearing from the ongoing ear infections.
My mother had the same problem and had to have all her teeth pulled at 24.
It took MONTHS after I got my partial before I could really talk well again...
My Dentist told me it was almost like having a mini-stroke, your brain has to re-train itself how to make your mouth and tongue work. He said some people have no problems but others (like me) it took months.
I would LOVE to get implants....
