I HATE American Express!!!!!! They are a crappy company and I've made a formal compliant to them and also to Costco that they shouldn't continue doing business with crappy companies. Amex has lowered my limit 3 times this year and then have the gall to tell me if I paid off my balance in full, they'll raise my limit back to the original amount. They say it was lowered because I have too much debt to credit...well duh! If they didn't half my limit, the ratio would be just fine! And this is after THEY offered a nice intro rate for balance transfers last year! This is only 1 week after a fraudulent charge was placed onmy card in EUROPE! in which AMEX called me....I had to close the account and get a new card...bet ya that triggered teh "review". Though the person (very long pauses between words, probably a call center in Asia somewhere) denied theat Amex would do that.

Not that I'm sticking up for American Express by any stretch of the imagination...but all the credit card companies are doing this... I have three cards (JC Penny, Home Depot and a Visa) that I have had for over ten years, have NEVER been late on, currently have only minimal balances on, etc., and all of the credit limits on these have been reduced in the past year.

As far as I'm concerned...ALL credit card companies are evil...
