Talking The dumb things people say

Since I have been losing weight people around me say some really dumb things every once in awhile and it just makes me laugh! The newest one was last night when a very self-concious, vain family member with low self-esteem was trying to get me to pose for a picture when I was busy doing something else. She said, "You know, now that you have lost so much weight people are going to be trying to take your picture all the time!" LMAO! Oh really?? Because who wants a picture of a big fatty, right?!

Anyone else heard anything particularly dumb recently?

It is funny- People just don't realize their comments when they are trying to be supportive. My mom once said to me after losing weight : " I have never met an Amy(my name) that wasn't fat". I had to remind her that I lost weight, hadn't changed my name. I think( or hope) that the support was meant with the correct intention.
Congrats and start smiling for the camera sweetie.

My grandmother is too cute and said something to the likes of "It's just not going to be you without all of the Christie that you are now." I just told her that just because my heart is big, doesn't mean my body has to match it. I've always been the "Big Girl" of the family, so it will be strange in that aspect, but, I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Eventually you'll start hearing things like, "You're too skinny." "You should stop losing weight you don't even look like you anymore." "I hate you skinny bitch." (said in jest I hope) One of the funniest, albeit scary was my wonderful brother-in-law, "Man if you lose another pound you just won't even be pretty." And my all time favorite from my easthatician with her thick asian accent, "You so skinny... you look like bamboo!"

Take it all with a grain of salt. People will have a hard time expressing their awe at your success.

I was heading home for my lunch break, walked out the office door and a girl who I used to work with said "you better quit loosing weight, your starting to look anerexious. (SP?)

Heck I'm not even to my goal weight (mine, not the docs). Guess people just aren't used to seeing me skinny.

Okay so this is more of a cute thing than a dumb thing but i immediately thought of it and had to share. I work with kids. One of my younger girls was giving me a hug one day and she kept touching my belly and looking at it. She looked up at me with the most serious look and goes 'Your tummy is smaller' and I just kinda smiled and nodded. And she looks at me as if some lightbulb had just gone off and she goes 'Ms. Angie, did you have a baby and it came out and thats why your tummy is little now. Cause it used to be really big!' hahahaha. I just laughed and said no. Ah, kids. Gotta love em.

The one I hate is, ( OMG YOU LOST A WHOLE PERSON ), or I hate it when they say, yeah I never wanted to tell you how bad you were starting to look, and I was so worried about you. ( Well if you were really that worried you would have said something ) Oh and now my new favorite is, Don't get to small or you will look very old, your face will wrinkle up,

I keep getting, "You look so well rested!" What does that mean? Does that mean I was bigger AND looked like I hadn't slept in days?? ROFL Only a couple of people have mentioned the actual weight loss.

heres a good one....

one of the ladies from church said to me...

"now that you had the surgery and are loosing weight you can be a candidate for my son" in spanish it sounded alot more spicy....

I know she doesnt mean bad since I've had a crush on her son forever and almost everyone at church knows it but still the nerve...

all of a sudden I will be good enough to date your son!!!

ughh!
