That is the greatest thing about this forum. Many people here understand what you have gone/are going through and they are 100% supportive! We've had to wait, we've had to lose, we've had to quit smoking, etc. and we are your #1 fans when it comes to helping you through this journey!
I love that I can log on here and pretty much find someone who's going through or has gone through what I'm dealing with so I know I'm not alone. Hang in there. Four more months may feel long but it's the start of the rest of your life!
I'm proud of you for realizing that it would be worth it to hang in those 4 months and do the supervised diet and save the extra cash for whatever is needed later! You go girl!!

Kudos!!!!
Oh Sunshine! I am soooo proud and jealous of you. You smoked the last two, threw the pack away, and were done? I am in literally in awe.
I quit smoking about 11 years ago after many many attempts. I did gum, had doctor support, and I would do okay for a day or two. But goodness...
What finally worked for me, sadly, was counting how many cigs I smoked every day for a week, averaging it out, then smoking exactly one less every day the next week. Then one less the week after. Took nearly half a year, and I smoked every single cig, but I finally did quit. For YEARS after I wanted one - and being around smokers was so hard. But I did it.
My doctor at the time actually told me I was delaying and should 'focus my willpower'. Maybe I was, and maybe I should have. Maybe I wasn't trying hard enough. I don't know. But even if it took me longer managing to quit smoking is among my few real personal successes.
So kudos to you!
And that's awesome that insurance might well cover your surgery. It does suck to have to wait (I recently found out I have to do a six month diet and pouted for nearly three days).
*Big Hugs and a High Five for quitting!*

Congratulations on kicking the ciggies Breanna.
The next few months will fly by. Just keep focussed on your long term goals - all the things you're looking to do as a slimmer, healthier person.

Brandnewme, You are so right. I think every question I have had thus far in my journey, I have been able to find the answer on here w/o even asking. I've done searches on here for all kinds of things and found where someone else has asked the same questions. I have learned about things on here that I would never have though to ask my Dr about. I decided to look at the bright side....I will be done with school about the same time as my 4 months are up and then I can really turn over a new leaf in life and maybe it will work out for the better; since I will be out of school, I will be able to focus all of my energy on my new lifestyle w/o stressing with homework and school and hey, if the insurance will pay for it in 4 months, then I know I'll be able to have "the girls" put back up where mother nature intended them to be in the 1st place....right?
Amilea, just as with anything in life, I guess everyone approaches giving up smoking differently. I guess for me it's like chocolate. I am better off to avoid it all together and just not go there at all, becuase I know myself well enough to know that I can't have just one piece of chocolate (or just one cig). I guess I'm an all or nothing kinda gal. I won't say it was necessarily easy but it's done. I still smell them sometimes when the windows are open and someone in the car in the next lane is smoking and still think that they smell good but know that I just can't go back or I'd be back all the way and I want this surgery too bad to jinx myself this way. But hey I'm only a couple of months out and you've stayed nicotine free for 11 years....who-hoo for you!!!
Corrine, thanks for the encouragement. I threw my pity party and then with all the encouragement I've gotten on here, I decided I just had to put on my big girl panties and do what needs to be done. I'll try to lose as much as I can between now and then and just keep going with the flow.
Thanks again to all for the encouragement and for letting me have my little pity party.
Breanna

Thanks Delane, I know you're right, hopefully the time will fly by and I'll get approved and then I'll wonder why I was so disappointed about waiting (here's hoping anyway).
Love the name by the way, my mom has the same name but spells it a little different (DeLaine)

My thoughts are on the long term of the surgery.
I look at it this way. Have the surgery done and paid for by insurance.
Why???
Then if any complications later on after surgery (and not trying to be negative) you will be covered by the insurance and no more out of pocket.

Breanna,
Four more months of not smoking makes me so excited for you! You will be thoroughly smoke free by then-I am more excited about your quitting smoking than your surgery! Congrats!! My father was a professional tennis player and a three pack a day smoker and died at age 33. So, Yeah for you, keep up the good fight!

Netta, Thank you for your words of encouragement. I had not thought about the added benefit of insurance coverage for any possible complications. I guess yet one more good reason to be patient, huh?
Phatlady, I cannot imagined losing your father when he was so young, what a terrible loss that was. I too am excited about being a non-smoker (although I stil miss them sometimes) but I figure that will get easier as time goes by (hopefully)
Holly, Thanks for the words of encouragement. Trust me, I am hanging on for dear life.
Breanna
