Default Question on Pre Op Diet

I wish I had the dietary intake in front of me. They want me to stat eating as if I had the surgery now, but with higher portions.

I am having trouble with that a little. Some of me wants to enjoy it while I can because I do want to give up this old me forever, but when she says it will be a year before you can eat steak so just quite eating it now...well it kinda makes me want to eat some good steaks "before I go".

What did you do? I AM all about practicing chewing, sipping water and not drinking with meals 30minutes etc. Still she must have told me to start to slowly restrict 20 things all before I start the 1 month liquid diet I go on before the surgery (seems like then is the time to stop the junk).

While I am not trying to start out by dismissing the advice of the pro's, she seemed a little extreme. I am going to take this to the Forum to find out what the others have done and get thoughts from the point of a few post ops as well.

Thanks so all.

Default Do what they tell you

I hear you about cutting out things you love but......... I had to go to 6 months of dietary counciling before approval and my biggest issue was giving up Diet Coke (it took 4 months). The other things to practice are important, as you form habits that will help you after surgery. Definitely do not cheat once you start the liquid diet - it is important to lower your risks for surgery.
