Default True Life!?!?!?

Has anyone ever watched this show? I just happen to be changing channels ( I NEVER watch TV..unless it's spongebob with my 5yr old) and this show was on! True Life "I'm uncomfortable in my new body" -- it's about 2 people, one girl who had GBS who can't face the fact that she is "skinny" she is obsessed with her body. She hates the skin..Looks for attention from others besides her husband...blah blah blah...and then a guy who had Lap band who lost over 200+ lbs. He has ALOT of skin and wants a total body lift but his parents don't want him to have it. He is fairly young. He went to his doctor and asked to have some of the liquid removed to lessen the resriction. OMG...immediatly after the doctors appointment he went to a diner..ate a full meal and then 4 milkshakes (extra thick), 2 pieces of pie (huge pieces) and a brownie! Guess what...he gained weight! YEAH NO KIDDING ASS!!!! He went back to the doc a week later and put the liquid back in!

I mean really?!?!?!?!??!?! Can that really happen? I was feeling ill just watching him gorge food! It was sickening!

No wonder people think it's the "easy way out" with shows like this! They protray it like we can go to the doctor, take out some liquid, eat whatever we want, and then have liquid replaced! WTF!!!!!

Just my vent for the night!!!!

I haven't seen the show, but I've heard about people removing the fluid before going on vacation and then putting back in after they return.
Why do doctors remove the fluid in the first place?

My guess is that doctors will remove the fluid if you ask them to because, a) it's your body and your band and you should be able to have fluid removed if you want it (even if it's for a dumb reason, because you know, people are allowed to be dumb) and b) they get paid to do it and they want to make money. I would hope that a doctor would try to talk someone out of it if they wanted fluid removed so they could go on vacation or whatever and pig out, but if the person insists, the doctor should do it. I remember someone posting here a while ago about a friend of hers who was getting her band unfilled so she could go to a wedding and eat a lot. The person getting her band unfilled thought that was just so cool. Talk about stupid!

I saw that episode a few months ago. The guy's family was not in the least supportive of his weight loss or plastic surgery. I was shocked when he put away as much as he did, too! I didn't think that was possible, but I guess it is!

The woman (can't remember her name) just drove me nuts! I thought she was a PITA. If she'd been my wife, I would've divorced her. Ugh!

I was actually contacted about this show before they started making it. I think the girl portion was accurate for her age/marriage issues/etc. It really hits home when you see it out there on tv.

The guy was such an extreme, it was hard to kinda vibe with him and fully understand his situtation.
