Post Hernia Repair Surgery

Today I have a Hernia Repair Surgery. I got the hernia from my Open Gastric Bypass last year. Seems that the wall was weakened and now I'm paying for it! UGH!!! Its been a very painful 6-8 months now. I haven't been able to exercise or anything. I waited months for my referal to a surgeon to go thru and that never happened. I switched doctors to help move along the process. Just a few days after the switch I was in the ER again for the pain. Because the hernia isn't "restricted" its not an emergency, have to wait for insurance approval, ugh! With Tricare that could be FOREVER!
Went to that new doc, he had me scheduled for the following Monday after my Thursday appointment! So, here I am today, I check in at noon and surgery is scheduled for 2pm! Woohoo!!! I just hope it happens because the nurse called me Friday with insurance problems and I'm not sure if they've been resolved but I called the OR today and they still have me "penciled in" hehe
I hope this happens! I wanna get my tummy toned! The hernia is right next to my belly button so its been a no tone zone for way too long!
I'll keep you all posted Take care all!!!

I was 18 months post-op when I had my hernia repair. I did not have any one large hernia, but a bunch of little ones so my repair was done with a mesh. I also had my RNY open, and the surgeon who fixed my hernia also was able to clean up the original scar (almost unnoticeable now).

Anyway, good luck!

Seems like the recovery was much quicker than I was expecting. I believe that the doctor had already removed my lifting restrictions by 4 or 6 weeks (if my memory is correct )

If your new scar is as long as the original, it's a safe bet that the surgeon did an abdominoplasty (muscle tightening) as well.
