I am so sorry!!! The silver lining is that your new skinny self is so much better prepared to sell yourself to a new employer, that will apreciate you. I know it sucks, but everything does happen for a reason and you will find something better.

It already has. At my husband's company they had a call center in India. Those people couldn't speak our language and were clueless. So guess what? They fired them all and brought the business back here. I'll bet it cost them a small fortune to do that too.
All the executives want is to line their pockets with money and they couldn't care less about the little guy who gets squashed while they're doing it. It's really sad that America has come to this. My husband was just ranting about this today at lunch. Corporate America is really starting to suck.

Business in America....my guess is that within the next ten years, any job that requires you to pick up a phone, and answer a question, will be outsourced to other countries......with burdened payroll at over 60% less than here in America, its not a real hard business decision for most major (and a lot of "MINOR" companies) to outsource.
Is this right, depends on what side of the paycheck your on...if your writing it, well hell yes its the right thing to do, with the typical hourly rate (burdened) at over 50 bucks an hour in the states, and compare that to other countries (India) where the average burdened rate is something like 8-10% or typical 10 bucks an hour average an hour its not surprising they are rapidly moving jobs out!!!
Why is this...holy crap, the list is longer than your arm...you should see our mail for the different companies I have, just yesterday, we got a little welcome card from the local fire department for over 800 bucks, because we had 55 gallon drums stored, nothing in them, just stored them!!! I wish I could have recorded the conversation with the person on the phone as to why we received this notice, very comical, and yes, I would give my left testicle to be able to move everything out of the focked up state, and be able to provide people with a good place to make money, and put some pennies in my pocket, instead Ill be laying off three guys today, and sending a check to the fire dept, because if I dont send them a check in the next two weeks, I get hit with a 150 dollar late fee, and it goes up to 300 bucks in 60 days!!
I should post some of the bills for insurance..that would bring a real tear to your eye!!!...in 2006,my insurance bills were over ..............$40,000.....God bless America!!!

The problem with outsourcing is that it appears to save you money, but in the end, if your business suffers because of it, what are you really saving? If you lose customers, is that good business? If more people in America lose jobs to outsourced companies, guess what? There's not going to be anyone left in America to buy the goods and keep the businesses going. People are going to move away and live somewhere else because we just can't afford to live here anymore. That's how I feel about living in NY and, Baja, I'm sure CA is worse. It's just costing way too much to live here anymore. Something's gotta give.

You arent alone. I lost my job May 30 2009. I am still looking. Jobs are here in Houston but the employers dont want to pay for the good people who will stick around when the economy bounces back. They would rather pay min wage for the ones that they can get to work cheap and then dont see that these people wont be around when the economy (or school) is back. I am going on my second month of being unemployed. Its not fun.

I know there doesnt seem to be much of a silver lining to this mishap, but think of it as a mini sabattical and work on something you reallllllllllly need to do! No worries, you'll find something even better=)

Was laid off Aug 15, 2008. Still unemployed. Life sucks for a lot of us in this regard. If my foot allowed standing for any length of time I'd be looking for work as a grocery store clerk or something- seems to be the only place hiring is the 24 hour supermarket.
Good luck Tricia.. I hope the job market is better there than here.. (unemployment here is the highest in the state)

When I call an 800 number for customer service and get someone with an accent, I usually hang up. Especially when it is a computer question I need answers for - because I don't like the condescending way the males talk to me.
