How much money do you think the president makes?
There's an article on CCN.com about how much the white house staffers make. top salary is somewhere in the range of 175k a year. So I wondered... how much does the president make?

When I was in elementary school I learned that the president makes $150,000 a year. Now I believe itīs more like $400,000 .. but they make much more than that with other things theyīre doing.. investing.. writing books.. etc..

The base salary would be small in comparison to what he could make in the private sector.

Salary is $400,000 a year plus a $50,000 expense account, a $100,000 nontaxable travel account, and $19,000 for entertainment.
So $569,000 with limitations on how $169,000 of it can be spent.

I sure would like to know what it's like to spend 47,416.66 a month, wouldn't you? Do you think he has to pay "rent" at the white house?

it wasn't a question of wether he was doing it for the money or not or any monetary motivated action. i was just curious how much money the president of the united states made, since it was curious to find out that the top white house emplyee makes a max of 175k a year. Seems a pittance for their particular jobs.

I think we pay his rent. I'm sure I could entertain myself pretty easily with 47k a month but I'm also sure that I would run out of things to entertain myself with.

In that segment NBC did recently on Obama, they asid that the family had to pay for thier food...think the "rent" is free....the Honor of it all ...
