There was a news blurb the other day regarding how Michelle Obama was putting a tight reign on the fast food consumption that her husband and her children go though. Apparently they're quite the fast food junkies.

What kid isn't?

However... why in the world would you EVER get fast food when you can have a top paid chef whip up the best buffalo wings and cheeseburger you've ever had in your entire life? That one is beyond me.

I wonder if part of his "allowance" that is not part of his base 400k salary goes for food or if that comes out of his base pay.

I wonder what kind of allowance the kids get. That'd be interesting. It's most definately not the $1 a week I got as a kid.

I hope they hold up well under such public scrutiny.

yeah but you know what I LOVE about Michelle.... she doesnt just "give" those kids allowances and stuff, she has said they still have to do chores YES chores and make thier beds and stuff!

(i gotta give it to a sista for keeping in real and letting those kids know that $ is NOT something that grows off thier garden in the back of that white house! I'm so glad they are raising those girls with dignity and class so they wont just go thru life with thier hands stuck out)

I also like the fact that Michelle is a realist. She wears handmade dresses and such that a friend (someone that she knows) makes for her. She also isn't afraid to get out into the public and neither is her hubby and like you said, both parents don't just "give" their kids things...they make them work of it. I love it!!, cause that is the "real" world.

She also wears the same clothes for "events" more then once. She's not a oh I wore this last month throw it out kind of girl, and that is awesome.

yeah, there's a pension... it was setup for Harry Truman, who was so broke after leaving office that he had to start selling off his property. Herbert Hoover accepted it even though he didn't need it, just to help Truman save face.

I'm sure it pales in comparison to the money they can make by doing speaking tours and writing books, though.
