Mom,
I can empathize. I lost 150lbs by working out and watching what I ate before my surgery. I busted my butt, and worked really hard. A couple of times I slipped and gained back a few pounds...only the goal of getting my RNY kept me from slipping all the way off the road to a better future.
I would hear comments from people like..."You are doing so well, you won't even need the surgery..."
Or comments that were even higher on the DUMBEST THINGS YOU HEARD TODAY SCALE like...
"I know someone who had that surgery and they didn't lose any weight..."
"My cousin's friend had that and had a heart attack...."
Don't let it bother you. I know that's easier said than done, but one thing I can tell you is this....Make it YOUR thing. Don't let anyone derail you because they either don't understand what you are going through, or even worse, they want to keep you fat so they can maintain some sense or feeling of superiority.
I still work out in the pool for an hour to an hour and a half every morning. It is my time. Time for me to work on me.
As for nay sayers.........
